Last summer, my electric bill was $600 a month and my old A/C with the same BTU size ran constantly. So I decided to give the Hisense a try. This summer has been even hotter than last and my bill is only $300 now. The downside is that the Hisense is not as quiet as I thought it would be. Though it's the fan, not the compressor that makes all the noise. Still the high setting on the fan is louder than the low setting on my old A/C. The only thing I dislike about the Hisense is the remote. It doesn't remember my previous settings if I turn it on using the remote. And it insists on going into "eco" mode when I adjust the fan speed. I'm a very light sleeper and I find "sleep" mode disrupts my sleep. While it's quieter in the long run, the constant cycling keeps waking me up all night long. So, I just leave the fan on low on normal mode. The compressor also makes an extremely faint electronic "beep" a couple of seconds before it comes on. (Most people wouldn't even notice it but I do). I'm happy with it overall and recommend it. It should save you hundreds of dollars if you don't mind a few minor inconveniences.

The good news is that it looks nice, makes cold air and is pretty quiet (although not as quiet as they would have you believe). It's also nice that it's supposed to be very energy efficient (not verified yet by me). So what could be wrong? Lot's of frustrating and annoying details in both setup and use. It started when it took me about five minutes just to get the battery cover off of the remote without breaking it. Ridiculous. Then it got worse. It's nice that the side side curtains slide into slots on the sides of the air conditioner. What's not nice is that they don't tell you that you should lubricate the plastic piece that slides into the slots first, or even bend the metal tabs out a bit. I started to slide the first one in, got about half-way, and it seized up, not wanting to go any further OR come back out! All this while wrestling with the plastic accordion curtain and trying not to break it. Then the plastic accordion just tore almost all the way down! So I had to repair it with packing tape. Ugh! After putting some lubricant on the plastic and bending the metal tabs out a bit, I was finally able to get the damaged curtain, and the one on the other side, installed. By now it's been twenty five minutes and I'm all sweaty. Great. As I install the air conditioner into the window opening, I find that my window sash, which is a very standard wooden sash, won't fit properly into the supplied top rail, so the screw holes in the rail are lining up with the very bottom edge of the sash. I checked this a few times, and pressed down hard on the sash with no improvement. I've installed many window air conditioners and this has never happened to me before. So I had to install the screws at an angle so as to actually get into the wood of the sash at all. Two of the three screws broke out at the bottom of the sash, so they aren't doing much good. This whole experience negated the positive thoughts of "oh look, they provided some nice adhesive-backed insulating foam board to put over the (now damaged) curtains". So now it's in and operating. Then I noticed that the remote has no back-light (for when you wake up in the middle of the night and want to adjust the temperature). In fact, the remote's display is fairly faint and hard to read in all but bright sunlight. Then I discover that, after putting it in COOL mode, when I adjust the temperature setting by just one degree lower, it decides to switch into ECO mode, which is the OPPOSITE of what I want. I could go on about the remote.

Here are some things about this ac that I learned when I bought it, but hadn’t seen on previous reviews or descriptions. This thing will cool a room down FAST!! I compared it side by side to the same size, same brand ac, but different model (Model HLAW0825TW - the “split” ac, where most of the ac is outside the window), and there was NO comparison. Also, we had a blistering heat wave of temps >100 degrees, and this ac kept my room as cool as a refrigerator! This ac will cool a room down in literal minutes, with one button in the app called a “Fast Cooling” feature. (In comparison, the split ac could not cool down the same room in >30 mins.). This ac has a strong fan, which helps it circulate the air and bring the temp down quickly. There are options for low, medium, high, and sometimes an auto applies, but I’m still figuring that one out. It also has an Eco mode for max energy efficiency. There is a Quiet setting which runs the fan quieter than the Low setting. I don’t use it since I prefer more air circulation over quietness. There is also a Sleep function that will slowly raise the temp a couple degrees through the night to save energy and for comfort sleep. I don’t use it, since I like a frigid bedroom. I really like this ac since it cools down my bedroom even faster than my split mini duct unit.

We are very happy with this product! Would buy it again.

I installed it on a 32’ 5th Rv and it works great. Quite enough and keeps the rv comfortable. Great unit for the price.

Just get a midea. The AC is completely fine but it's just feels lacking in a lot of areas Vs the comparable slightly more expensive midea. It feels slightly too noisy with a somewhat whining sound, it doesn't have a sleep mode it just turns off and on and it's just lacking polish. Feels like a lot was retrofitted for it. Completely fine but there are better ACs out there that are worth the slight bit more money

I changed from one star to three stars but it doesn’t want to change on Amazon. I give it three stars Before you buy this be sure you go on and do a search about high sense air conditioner shut down. There are many videos that talk about these air conditioners. It’s shut down frequently if it’s hot it won’t work. That’s a problem for an air conditioner.
