Another improvement over the previous Living Stereo issue
This disc, recorded as long ago as 1954 and 1956, is a total success as a remastering. The advantages are greater tonal warmth and depth of field and well as enhanced clarity. The previous version was notably good so this further improvement is quite remarkable. The performances themselves are full of verve and considerable orchestral virtuosity. Fiedler extracts from his enthusiastic musicians playing of almost relentless energy and good humour. This is, of course what is written in the Offenbach particularly, but the Rossini can have more light and shade to give dynamic variety at the very least as other conductors have shown. However none can match Fiedler and his orchestra for all the virtues previously listed as above. Of the various recordings that I have owned in the past this is still the most rewarding by some distance. This is a short review because there is very little to add!In summary therefore, I would suggest that this disc certainly deserves to be considered as a front runner in any list of recordings to be considered by anyone interested in the program. Also those wishing to upgrade their previous version may do so with confidence.

Very nice recording from the 1950s in stereo only on this ...
Very nice recording from the 1950s in stereo only on this living stereo S.A.C.D DISC a lively selection of music showing how good recordings can sound from this time. This was recorded in two channel only so is only in stereo but the sound is natural not like some remixing of later classical recordings highly recommended.

Dreadful
This is sold as a DSD disc. However, the recording was made in the 1950's, and so the reproduction is a perfect facsimilie of the sound of that time. If you love the characteristics of the old 78's and '50's technology, you'll love it. Personally, i think the sound is dreadful.

Wonderful sound
The sound on these recordings from 1954 is stunning -- most modern record companies could learn a thing or two about natural sound from this SACD

For The Music Fan
People say they love music but typically they love one form of music. This album is for those who love music, all forms of music (okay, maybe not rap). I was watching a YouTube review of audiophile albums and this one came up. I've never heard of it before, considering there are millions or recordings that's no big deal, but it intrigued me. I saw it was available on Amazon on CD for a good price so I snagged it up. It is as the reviewers say, an audiophile album. The sound quality is truly outstanding. The music style is unique to say the least. It's not classical and it's not show tunes but it's somewhere in between. It's very upbeat and very happy. It might take a couple listens to get used to it but I think most people who love music will end up enjoying it. For a very small amount of money I found this to be a great album for my collection. It's kind of like polka music , you don't listen to it every day but when you listen to it it makes you happy. This album will chase the clouds away. And if the cover offends you do as I do, record it to MP3 or flac and throw away the jewel case and the cover.Highly recommended

GREAT MUSIC, BEAUTIFULLY RECORDED
What a performance - nothing in the last 30 years equals or surpasses it. Would recommend highly to a friend.
