I use alum salts to tan hides. Works great and holds hair nicely. These being food grade, you could also use them for pickling recipes.

No complaints other than the package does not seal so I had to store it a different way. This is a large amount in comparison to those little seasoning bottles so this will last me a long time and it's a fair price.

This powder makes a great addition to homemade and natural deodorant. It is food grade so it is body safe and works great for eliminating body odors.

This gets four stars for meeting expectations, for me five stars is something that exceeds my expectations, this meets my expectations which is still very good.We use this for the occasional foot bath for the runners in our house. Any foot bath feels good in our family, but the use of Alum Powder dissolved in warm water also helps us get a good clean soak with a bit of disinfecting action. If you are a runner or in work boots all day you know the importance of cleaning your feet thoroughly to avoid any athlete's foot issues, we find a soak or two a week keeps the toes feeling fresh and clean.

This may sound weird, but I use alum in my pool. It keeps the water clean and keeps the wasps away. Finally, I found something to keep the wasps away. I use about a pound at the beginning of the season and then add 6 to 8 ounces as needed during the season. I live in the SW so our seasons are long. Great use of alum. I literally had alum on my list to pick up to start canning pickles this year. I don't plan on doing a lot this time, so this size is perfect.

I got this for pickling and for canning tomatoes. It seems to be a good-quality alum powder. It doesn't seal, though. 4 stars.

I ordered the Herbs Botanica Alum Powder for some canning I'll be doing later this summer. I was surprised though at all of the many other uses for something I thought was just a preservative. Happy to see that this hasn't been tested on animals.
