Keeps my guitar in good shape
This was a gift to a fellow guitar player. I got mine when I bought my $1000 guitar two years ago. They urged me to keep my investment in good condition in our low humidity winter by raising the environmental humidity in my quality guitar case (useless in a cheap case) to close to 45% at the lowest. It's not needed in the summer when the humidity is actually above the ideal zone of 45-55% humidity. You need a syringe to fill the device because if it overflows, you lose the media that is required to make it functional. If you purchase it on Amazon, the syringe will pop up as an optional add on. I also purchased a portable humidistat to keep track of the humidity in the guitar case.I place the humidifer in the hole on one side or the other of the 6 strings. You can place it between the strings but that's only needed if you carry it around. I just leave the thing home if I'm taking the guitar out. But if you go on the road with it. you should place it among the strings to keep it stable.

Thin top acoustics need a little help
Believe me , a new acoustic guitar will crack...the old ones not so much....low humidity is the culprit.....

I'm a Luthier and this is my recommendation
This is the 3rd humidifier that I've bought. It's very safe to use in any acoustic guitar and it's easy to see when it needs more water. This is the ONLY humidifier that I will trust in the guitars that I build.UPDATE:it's January 2, 2018. The humidity is extremely low. Even in my workshop, which has 2 large evaporative humidifiers, to keep the humidity at a constant 45-50%, is a struggle this year. It's dipped below 40% at times, which puts all of the guitars in my shop, many worth 10s of thousands of dollars, in peril. I'm getting ready to order 5 more Oasis humidifiers, to put into the soundholes of 5 new builds in various stages of completion. I still consider the Oasis to be the best humidifier on the market.I urge you to keep a good hygrometer in your case. Anything above 55% can dismantle your precious guitars as easily as too low of a humidity. Whether you live with high, low, or fluctuating humidities, it's best to create a microclimate for your acoustic guitar. The best method is to store it in its case, with a good hygrometer (caliber IV for cigars is excellent), so you can respond to humidity extremes quickly. You should be aiming for 45-55%. Long periods below 45% or above 55%, are dangerous. Use the Oasis, unless you see humidity that exceeds 55%. Use a couple packs of dessicant if you see high humidity. For those of you who leave your guitars out of the case, you must control the humidity in your chosen guitar storage area. You need to humidify, dehumidify, or use a combination. Remember, 45-55%, is the max range. The rubber in the Oasis will disintegrate if it becomes totally dried out; it will also harden over time, when you fill it with hard water. Use distilled water to prolong the life of the crystals and rubber membrane. I have a weekly alarm on my phone to remind me to refill the Oasis humidifiers. If the membrane hardens or is allowed to dry out, you'll see water drops form on the seam. You should always check for this and if you see it, discard the humidifier.

Decent humidity solution for guitar
This is a pretty simple solution for adding humidity to “the internal” portion of the guitar primarily. It gets inserted through the soundhole, and is held in place by the strings. Some reviewers have expressed concerns about leakage. Yep. I guess this could happen. I could also fall down the steps carrying my guitar. I don’t know. Try to keep it hydrated or let the soundboard split in the wintertime. Flip a coin.As far as this thing needing to be “re-charged”, maybe I’ll recharge it. Maybe I’ll buy a new one each year. Rather put out $15-$20 preventing a soundboard split than getting into a repair.Edit: Date is 1/2/21. I’ve been using the humidifier for a year now. As far as leakage (moisture spilling out the sides of the device etc), I have experienced none of that.I have decided to go the route of recharging the unit with new crystals yearly. Oasis sells a kit ($15) that supplies you with enough crystals for 5 years of recharging. You need to get the old crystals out, which can be done by flushing with distilled water. I let mine dry out for a day after this. Then you fill with the tiny spoon they include. Pretty easy.

Good humidifier
The material is great for letting out humidity without any water dripping out from the material or where the cap goes on, even when I have my guitar in the case on its side. I live in Colorado where it's semi-arid. So, I would like to have the humidifier a little larger, so I don't have to fill it every week. Otherwise, it works great.

I use this with all my acoustic guitars
These are easy to use and have kept my guitars safe for 3 years. When I turn on my furnace I know it's time to buy them. Guitars are expensive and these are worth every penny to keep them from cracking. I will buy these every year as long as I have a guitar.

Don't tip the bottle upside down
Arrrrgggh! Read the side of the box where it clearly states keep the bottle upright... If you don't, the gel crystals spill out over your - well, in my case, carpet! Very hard to find them and pop them back in the bottle... Groan.Would have been a smarter packaging idea to have the crystals in a separate package, so I would know I'm running a risk of spilling them when I make the conscious decision to transfer them into the bottle.Live and learn (from me, in this case). Now I need to buy new crystals.Crystals be like printer cartridges, the printer was the cheaper purchase....

Canada has cold dry winters so it's a challenge ...
Canada has cold dry winters so it's a challenge to keep guitars in the 40-50% safety zone. I've tried other humidifiers and none work as advertised. This one allows visual confirmation if it needs water which is helpful. But even with a 2nd sponge under the head, it still reads 35% in a humidified room. I considered the OH-5 humidifier with its promised greater output but it had more negative reviews re leaking so I stayed with the OH-1. Finally, I've no idea how much product integrity is compromised storing by guitar vertically as the humidifier is forced to bend down by gravity. I imagine it leads to earlier fraying/leaking shortening its lifespan. It would be helpful if Oasis offered advice against storing guitars vertically if warranted. p.s I'm using an Oasis hygrometer in the case for my readings and always use distilled water as advised.

Always make sure gel absorbs water before inserting into guitar
Have been using these for years. They work great. This is the first one that I had leak. I bought two of these last year January, 2021 to replace my older ones. Generally I replace these every two years regardless. One of the two failed after 13 months. I can't stress enough to wait after you refill for 5 to 10 minutes until crystals take up the water in the humidifier. Waiting showed me it was leaking by feeling a little wet. Would have been a disaster in my Taylor if I filled and placed.I will buy again to replace the one that failed.

Works for me
I bought 4 of these after trying man other products. These work fine for me. Live in Canada where the weather can be dry and cold, or hot and dry. I have these in all my expensive guitars and have no complaints. I would recommend. Rock on - living in the free world.
