The book echoes the timeless investing wisdom offered by Ben Graham in the Intelligent Investor and Seth Klarman in Margin of Safety, and focuses on practical techniques that help with applying those ideas in modern financial markets. I stumbled upon Sven Carlin's YouTube channel about a year ago, and have since followed his content daily. In this book and on his YouTube channel, Sven provides countless insights about value investing (the strategy of investing in companies when their stocks are priced at a discount and with minimal downside risk). He also reviews the teachings of financial gurus like Ben Graham, Ray Dalio and Warren Buffett, and provides stellar information on the global economy. Sven's commentary is always objective, never sensationalized, and is full of detailed analyses delivered in a way that even complete beginners can understand. After reading and watching Sven's content, the principles he discusses now seem like common sense. But in reality, the investing strategy that Sven teaches is far from common knowledge for those of us that do not have formal financial education. I have found tremendous value in Sven's content, and am extremely grateful for the positive impact that it continues to have on my financial future. Review: A good introduction to Value Investing - Sven Carlin does a good job in going through a number of different “tools” for the value investor. I think this book is a good starting point for whom who are curious about the subject, to start further explorations and eventually come back to the book, after a sound grasp of the tools has been achieved. Very interesting and practical the Daimler case that is presented.

Great book from someone who has read alot of value & growth books
I've delved into the works of investing legends like Seth Klarman (the GOAT), Warren Buffett, Ben Graham, Peter Lynch, and Charles Munger. Carlin's book effectively condenses and provides numerous examples for evaluating stocks. He particularly addresses growth stocks with today's investors in mind. Given my significant holdings in tech stocks, I find Sven's perspective highly relatable to these renowned investors. I strongly recommend adding this book to your collection. If you're starting, consider beginning with Ben Graham's 'The Intelligent Investor,' Seth Klarman's 'Margin of Safety,' and some of Peter Lynch's (they're shorter) works. Carlin skillfully summarizes all these insights into one comprehensive book. Fantastic job, Sven! I also follow your YouTube channel for great content.

Great insights into both the behavioral and technical aspects of Value investing
Being an admirer of Sven's Youtube Channel, I immediately rushed to buy his book when it released and I can safely say that the book fulfilled my high expectations. The first part of the book covers the non-technical piece of value investing. Sven talks in detail about the market and wall street inefficiencies and what kind of mindset is needed for a value investor to profit from them. He covers lot of core lessons from classic books like the 'Intelligent Investor', 'Margin of Safety' and 'Alchemy of Finance'. The second part of the book covers the technical piece and describes many different numerical techniques to value a company and how to create a range of values to effectively reduce risk, have a margin of safety and maximize returns. Sven uses a very easy to understand language but also does not dumb down the content; so it can be used practically unlike some other books which tackle the philosophical aspects but do not deal with everyday usable material. It's not a beginners book though and needs some familiarity with basic terms and metrics used in investing. But for anyone who is even vaguely familiar with investing, I would highly recommend this book.

A modern Ben Graham
Sven's book is a modern and much-refined version of Ben Graham's "Intellectual Investor". I have read both and each has very good qualities. Modern Value Investing though is adjusted to our current time and the context we live in today and it has taken into account how the markets have developed in the past 40 years. Although Modern Value Investing builds on Ben Graham's ideas, Sven expands and incorporates a much larger scope of ideas, investment analytical tools and theories. Sven also builds on his own successful professional life as an investor. This book has a very good structure to use (wholly or partly) for your own investor activities. The analytical tools are explained with examples and in ways making the easy to grasp and start using directly. I would define this book as all-encompassing book for starting off as a value investor.

Excellent book for a young investors
I'm a recent grad in New York. I'm glad to have read this book and gain more insight into long term investing. I started investing 4 years ago, I was more emotionally attached then using logic, willpower, and knowledge. After reading books from Peter Lynch, Benjamin Graham, and this book I've Improved my returns 30 fold. I recommend anyone to read this book to not only improve your performance as an investor but to improve your mentality and mindset in other areas of life.
