Review: Great for the M&P 15-22 - I bought this based upon other reviews and the price to use on my Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 rifle. I was skeptical, and wasn't expecting a whole lot from a budget friendly lpvo, but figured since I'm just using it on a .22lr it should be good enough. (Let's be honest, you're not going to get a duty grade optic for $100). I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is, as the quality was a lot better than I was expecting. The glass is clear, the reticle is crisp, and the eye relief is quite good. It came with a cantilever mount in the box, and the hex keys needed to install it. (You can find mounting instructions/ torque specs on the Monstrum website). Fits the pic rail with no issues. Went to the range to zero it in and do some plinking. You can feel each click as you adjust the elevation and windage, which is extremely helpful when dialing it in. I zeroed it for 35 yards, but I was reaching out anywhere from 50 to 100 yards and hitting steel targets. My brother, a USMC veteran who owns and uses a few higher quality optics, joined me that day with his Ruger 10/22 M1 carbine (nowadays, .22lr is the most affordable way to have a day at the range without breaking the bank). Between the two of us, we put well over 500 rounds through the M&P 15-22, and the Monstrum lpvo held zero the entire time. Even he was impressed by the quality of this lpvo and he couldn't believe it when I told him the price. He has since bought one because for the reasonable price of $100, why not? My F.I.L. recently bought one based upon my recommendation. To sum it up, you can spend a lot more and get a lot less. So, if you're looking at buying your first lpvo to see if you like the platform (and if you do, you'll upgrade in time), or if your just looking for an inexpensive lpvo for your plinker, this is probably one of the better of the budget friendly options out there. I'm giving it 5 stars based upon the price, functionality, ease of use, and the fact it has multiple reticle options. I can't speak to the durability, because I don't plan on torturing a range toy. As of now, I'm considering the possibility of buying another to try on my 9mm carbine rifle, or an actual AR-15 because I'm curious to see how it will do on a bigger platform. Even if it doesn't work out on the bigger platform, I have another .22lr it can live on. Happy plinking! *edited for update* I own three of the Monstrum Ladon lpvo's now, two of which are on a .22lr AR style platform and the third is on a PSA budget build 5.56 to prove to a friend that it is possible to have a fully functional and operational AR for under the $1K price tag. I did give the second one I ordered a mild durability test - dropped it from shoulder height several times, went to the range on a very rainy day (mounted on a .22lr) letting it get soaked, and just for fun, mounted it on a .308, shooting several rounds to see how it handled the recoil of a larger caliber. It did not do particularly well on the larger caliber, but honestly, I don't feel it was designed for that large of a caliber so I'm not holding that against it. However, on a 5.56 it does just fine with the recoil and I am able to consistently hit an eight inch steel target at 100 yards. So if you're on a tight budget, and/ or just starting out, I still recommend giving this one a chance until you have the means to upgrade as I still feel like this one isn't exactly a duty grade optic, but for the price, it'll definitely get you out to the range and practicing.
Review: Very well made, clear glass, holds zero, nice turrets - I was skeptical at first, but Monstrum has won me over. This is a very good scope, especially but not only because of, the low price point. I actually can't believe this was under $80 at the time of purchase. The glass is very clear and it is very well made. the turrets click nicely, and it seems to hold zero well so far when racking my PTR 91 - though i've not shot .308 out of it yet, so we'll see if it holds up. It is a bit long for my rifle, but i knew that going into it. It does not interfere with doing the "HK Slap", but it does prevent me from using the incorporated carrying handle. The zoom dial is pretty difficult to turn though - that's about the only qualm i have with this scope. I still give it 5 BIG stars - and I can't wait to try out some other Monstrum optics soon! I wish it was 1/4 MOA instead of 1/2 MOA per click, but hey - that makes the math easier!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value for a basic LPVO with good features
*by T***G on May 4, 2026*

Haven't put rounds through it yet, but I've got other Monstrum products that have been great. For $100 this LPVO seems very good. The clarity of the optic is really good. Comes with extra battery. Nice clicks on the adjustments. The illumination dial is great; in between each brightness level is a "0" or off setting so that you don't have to go all the way through the dial to turn it off. The included cantilever mount seems solid. The only nitpick I have is that the mounting screws for the mount-to-pic rail are smaller than ideal but the mounting tabs go on both sides of the pic rail slots so there is more support. The magnification dial is a tad stiffer to turn than I'd prefer but not bad at all. The illumination is nice and bright; easy to see in daylight.
