Great read with the main character having Aspergers
A touching tale of how a teen with Aspergers copes with several major life events in one go. It's touching to see how Hudson feels and thinks to his grandad dying, because he uses some skills he has been taught on how to understand people who don't always mean what they say. Through his thoughts Hudson figures out how he feels to the idea of a new sibling, and his mum getting married.I felt sorry for his mum when Hudson didn't understand why she wouldn't let him wear the funeral suit to the wedding, and for Hudson because so much is implied by expression, tone, and what is left unsaid. I felt sorry for him since his dad doesn't acknowledge he sees the world differently to most, but in some ways his view point protects him from being hurt or overly sad.The car wash scene was sweet too-it's amazing how easy it is to offload to someone when in certain situations (talking in the dark isn't in the book, but it is like being in a car wash gives a sense of privacy (or of dying which is how I feel about them!). This book has a lot to think about!I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review on my blog Nayu's Reading Corner [...]

A sparkling, thought provoking and visually exciting gem!
We all wish we knew what was going on inside other people's minds, inside the minds of people we care about, others we find it more difficult to understand and especially when we feel there are things going unsaid. Car Wash Wish highlights this idea allowing us into the 'curious mind' of Hudson and Hudsons alike! He struggles with social expectations but shows the emotional intuity to approach and empathise with situations that even the adults in his life are struggle in coping with. This story made me think of the things going unsaid in my life, and the conversations I want to have with my loved ones. I may be older than the audience for this book, but Sita Brahmachari writes about issues all can relate to, and reminds us how important for all ages it is to accept that being different is special, and being special means just that!

An emotive, humorous and special read!
Sita Brahmachari has opened up a window and allowed us to experience the inner workings of Hudson's mind. This beautiful and extremely satisfying read touches upon issues such as loss, Asperger's Syndrome, and family dynamics. Hudson's strong and clear voice walks us through his world and teaches us about both the importance and the difficulties of communication with those around you, especially the ones that you love. Would definitely recommend for children and adults alike!
