Bad Boys: Ride or Die

Slightly silly but enjoyable romp

Great storyline. Lovely to see all my favourite actors again!

The previous iteration of this franchise (bad boys for life) was a somewhat more dynamic albeit slightly ludicrous take on the series. With a now middle aged Mike Lawry struggling to find his place in this brave new world; the new kids on the block don’t respect him, his contemporaries have grown tired of his John Wayne antics and after a close brush with death he is brought face to face with his own vulnerability. The character in the third film was certainly the most human iteration of “iron mike”, no longer the Teflon man but an ageing veteran wracked with doubts, regrets and vulnerabilities. As was seen with the wretched 2006 Miami Vice, it’s not enough just to have characters that talk tough and go from place to place shooting each other, you actually need some kind of a story and failing that you at least need real and relatable characters. Unfortunately, this latest installment, and I say that knowing that there will almost certainly be many more, somewhat forgets those character revisions from the previous film and reverts back to the two dimensional action hero. Martin Lawrence’s character is now on some weird new age mystic belief system, I’m guessing written with the express intention of discrediting true biblical values. The comedy is also far too extraneous and forced and that’s been the case ever since the second film and it results in a lot of awkward scenes that are intended to be funny but are simply not funny. One thing the original film got right that all the others have failed in since was its spacing of the action scenes, it knew when to be still and when to be noisy and therein lies the problem with pretty much every film in this franchise since the first, it’s really just an excuse to have car chases, gun fights and explosions with next to no thought put into the script. The whole let’s get the guys with the drugs theme was passed its use by date in 2003 and now with this latest version its reached total absurdity, even incorporating something of a Jurassic Park theme late in the final act. Bad boys ride or die is tolerable for a single watch but beyond that you will have forgotten it before the credits finish rolling.

Am not a big will Smith fan but put him and Martin laurance together and then you have a film and a half, I love all the bad boys films each one better that the next one and this fourth film is amazing I've watched it again and again and the way that Smith and laurance play off of each other it's a proper good laugh, better still watch them all from 1 to 4 well worth getting some TV snacks in for a 9 hour marathon

Nostalgia means i love it , feels like should been released years before but if you have a soft spot for the other films then this is a treat start to end. Sometimes the value we find in things isnt how great it is now but what it represents from before this is a little like that for me , not the strongest of the films but it does make you smile when reminds of where it came from. Worth a watch

Quarto bellissimo capitolo della saga d'azione e commedia creata dal grande Michael Bay. Coinvolgente, dai personaggi come sempre grandiosi e carismatici (mitici Will Smith e Martin Lawrence) divertente, adrenalinico, spettacolare, dal gran ritmo e dalle fantastiche scene d'azione. Sempre uno spasso. Meglio del terzo capitolo. Edizione blu-ray "Eagle Pictures" di qualità, negli extra vari speciali, errori e scene tagliate. Consigliatissimo

Film molto bello Tanta azione e umorismo. Effetti al massimo livello. Molti angoli di ripresa interessanti. Buona musica. Molti riferimenti alle parti precedenti. L'HDR è molto bello in questo video. Il comunicato contiene molti materiali aggiuntivi, comprese le scene cancellate.
