So far so good. No complaints, and for the price their perfect. We’ll see how long they last.

Used the punch and the first 15 to 20 punches worked fine, then it started missing every 3 or 4. After about 50 punches it would not longer work properly. Tried the second one thinking maybe I got a bad one and it didn't last as long as the first one. Also, noticed the tips are not hard at all and deformed after only about 25 punches. Wash punching into wood so nothing that should have caused this.

I've wanted a good center punch since I saw one in use when a work friend used one while building a steel work bench. He used it with only one hand, to make a dimple by pressing it against the steel and the spring did the rest. These are not comparable to that larger, adjustable punch, tool.I wanted to post a picture of the mark these make, but they are too small to see. I tried them on a piece of leftover aluminum flat bar stock; and they make a pinpoint dimple too small to start a drill bit in. You can make it bigger by repeated punches. I tried adjusting it; but that only made the impact weaker.I think it would be ok for marking where you want many holes to be drilled for a project layout. But, you'll need to hit this tool with a hammer to make a mark deep enough to set a bit into. Which, is what I've been doing with a masonry nail for many years. So, it's not really an upgrade for me.

I have a few of these automatic center punches. And there is always one thing wrong with them. They jam easily. You can usually unscrew them to reset the punch and they will work again, but you should not have to go through all that. I had a really good one and it went missing, so I thought I would take a chance on this set of two. The price is so low you can afford to try them out and if they don't work for you then you can just toss them. Fortunately, I had decent luck with mine. One of them jammed after only eight uses, but the other one is about twenty uses and has not jammed yet. There is some adjustability if you need to make it make less of an indentation you can unscrew it slightly, but I can't think of a reason for doing that. You can completely disassemble it to unjam it or to replace the punch point with one of the two extra points included. I like that I have one to throw in my toolbox in the garage and one I can keep next to my drill press.For the money I would say go for it. If you are a professional and use it all the time I would invest in a much better one. As a DIY guy and weekend wood worker I could not justify spending $20-$30 bucks for a name brand one, when you can get two of them for $3.00....

This is an affordable set that is easy to use. I was surprised that both of them work and are pretty sharp. They are mid quality but also better than expected for the price.
