Is This The Best RPG Miniatures Board Game Out There?
I enjoy many of these types of game, both fantasy and sci-fi (Descent, D&D Adventure System, Arcadia Quest, Ninja All Stars, Imperial Assault, Doom, etc etc) and I really like them all, but having now played all the Massive Darkness Quests in the book and the six from the Lave/Crystals expansion, I consider myself in an experienced position to say that I believe this to be possibly THE best game of this genre currently on the market. (1) its thematically conducive for solo play (i.e. yourself against the game AI) though I DO advise if you play by your lonesome.. run with two or three heroes as the increased options this will allow in game will increase dramatically. (2) the game when set up is beautiful... which means immersion and suspension of disbelief is that much more intense. (3) the game comes with a LOT, and should keep any reasonable gamer happy for many months of endless play, but the sheer amount of additional expansion material for Massive Darkness is quite staggering, and means there is potential to explore this game for years of game play fun. (4) the miniatures are truly beautiful and delightful to handle and play with. I have heard some say there is not enough variety (with lots of similar mob types, i.e. Dwarves, Goblins, and Orcs.. all in the same pose) but this does not bother me at all. I still managed to paint my entire core game in fivedays (sheer slog, but worth it): but for me the numbers of similar creatures make the game thematically richer. The D&D Adventure System Boardgame perhaps fails simply because of the opposite effect. Too many different monster types makes the dungeon feel like a mish-mashof incongruous dungeon denizens, which just doesn't sit well with the logical ecology of the thing. Where as Massive Darkness gives you LESS variety, but this enhances theme and the realistic feel and tone no end. I actually like to imagine my own Massive Darkness Games to exist somewhere in Middle Earth, but that`s just me: but yeah thematically this game fits that image nicely (images of dungeon delves into Moria come to mind with flowing ease). Finally, the game combines seamlessly with Zombicide Green Horde (but you WILL need to purchase the crossover pack to do so), which will add even MORE options to expand the game further. All in all, I believe that YES, Massive Darkness may well be THE best RPG boardgame out there.

Brilliant Game
Fairly new to games like this i bought on recommendation, and it's brilliant rare you find a game that works well with 2 players or 6. The quality of all the pieces is brilliant. Normally you find the cardboard flimsy and get creases in this is reinforced and the boxes holds all pieces nicely.I have recommended this to others and looking to get expansions ect

Enjoyable coop game.
Well other than the fact that I died first time (6 dice and I got 6 1s or 2s!) it’s a great game. Lots of minis if you are into painting them etc. Quite easy to pick up. Does help if the person shuffling the zombie cards actually does a decent job of shuffling but can’t blame that on the game! Also it’s nice as it can be played without the need for all the expansion packs. Quite a good intro to the world of board games as it isn’t too bad a price either (£70 when I bought it)

Tastes great.
Family introduced our children to this (pre-teens) and they can't get enough of it. Not cheap but very intricate and games last for hours. Will be ideal for Weekend afternoons in the winter! Not sure why I was asked to rate the flavour....
