I followed the common wisdom, and went a size up. My waist is 34", so I got a large, as everyone one was saying these belts come on the small side.So I ordered a large, and it is too big (36-40).Luckily, the belts construction, allows for easy shortening. I took it in the cobblers' on the high street, he unscrewed the buckle's screw on clasp.Cut a few inches off, and punched some new holes, and charged me £2.The cobbler said it was a nice piece of leather, and it is, I looked at some of the branded belts he sells, and this is very good value indeed.So, from my experience, the belt comes to the size it says it is, although this may not be consistent.In my view, it is a good buy, it looks classy, and the leather is already starting to become supple. Nothing digging in, the buckle looks nice and is well attached to the belt.Given that, this should give years of service. I'd recommend it highly

A great value belt - iust is a shame that the sizes don't overlap a bit as I have to have the Large size belt on the last hole (smallest) and the Medium size belt on the last hole (biggest) so there is no room for any weight change (i.e with the large belt - I can't lose any weight and with the medium belt - I can't expand!). Otherwise, a quality belt at a good price.

Excellent value leather belt. I've bought belts from Hugo Boss and John Lewis as well as this one in the past few months. Although this is not the most finely tailored belt of the three (hardly surprising given that at £!4 it's less than 1/3 of the cost of the others!) it is by far the best value. Supple leather with black finished edges, good width (1.5") for casual wear, subtle enough for formal wear too and good choice of colours. The only issue that makes it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the stated sizing (L 91-102cm) comes up several cms shorter than the other 2 belts. Next time I'm going to order one size up. Still very good for the money.

The belt itself is of good quality, with a decent quality buckle and is well-made. It's as good a belt as you'll find in this price range.Unfortunately, the sizing is quite unconventional. The belt measurements are exact, which is normal enough - 32" means exactly 32 inches from buckle to hole (it's quite normal for a belt size to be 2 inches larger than the waist size). However, the position of the last holes is so close to the end of the belt that you will have no tail at all, and using the last few holes makes it look like you've borrowed a child's belt and added extra holes to it (using the final hole, the tail does not even reach the end of the buckle).There's also no middle ground for those of us who go up and down a size and happen to be 'between sizes'. Each belt starts at the size the last one finished on; if you have a 34" waist, you can either stuff yourself into the very last hole of the medium belt (and look silly) or the very first hole of the large belt. While normal manufacturers tend to have an overlap of 2-3 holes between sizes, these do not.Belt quality is good, and as long as you're comfortably in the middle of a size band you'll have many years' use from it.

I read the reviews about this belt before purchasing and alot of confusing whether to order just right or order next size up.I wish i had gone with ordering next size up as the belt came, UNGIFT BOXED(when purchasing it does say gift boxed) it arrived in sealed in a bag. The Belt its self is nice, thick and was too small. I ordered for 34" so now I have reordered for 44" which should be plenty.The belt I gave to my son as that will fit nicely who 28-30"My advice is to check your size!!!

I was looking for a high quality leather belt for a decent price for a while before opting to purchase this belt. The belt is of a really high quality and it is clear that it is made from genuine, good quality leather. Not only this, but the belt is very modern and stylish with the Hawkdale logo on the metal clasp. You will not be able to get a belt of a similar quality in a shop for anywhere close to the price that this belt is being sold on Amazon.The only downside is that the belt is slightly smaller in length than I had anticipated so I would recommend adding around 2-3 inches onto that of your normal waist size in jeans.

Excellent belt, really pleased with it. As others have said, add an inch to the size of trousers, as the belt goes over them. In my case 32"+1"=33", i.e. second hole on my belt (size 32-36). The size is accurate; I measured 32" from buckle to first hole and 36" to the last one, they are 1" distance from each other, so there are 5 of them. Really nice belt, thick and strong, just like in the picture. Absolute bargain.

bought two belts last year black and brown @1.5inches wide. have had fantastic use out of them ever since I bought them. Have lost a bit of weight so had to buy some new belts, had to go with Hawkdale Belts after seeing how well they keep after constant use and still look really good when ever I use them. have already had delivery of my new belts and they fit just great. when you know you have found the best for you why swap for something that is very possibly not as good. I will buy again as presents for family and friends so they can see what I am talking about.
