Generac 7143 eStart PW Kit

I don't write many reviews. When I do, the vast majority of them are glowing. This review points out horrid quality, horrid Generac customer support.I purchased this unit brand new from Amazon in April of 2019. It fired up for a minute on the first time I started it and then cut off and wouldn't restart. I tried several more times to no avail. I went on travel and was unable to take it in for warranty service until several months later. The warranty service could not get Generac to supply a part # for their own generator. In fact, they couldn't get a response from them at all. And the service was a Generac approved support contractor. The unit sat in a shop for a month waiting for Generac to respond to the service agent. I finally got it back from the workshop. They came up with a work around to get it running. I got it home, started it up ONCE --- and it hasn't started since. SHORT STORY. I owned this power washer for ONE YEAR and it has started TWICE for 3 minutes in that one year. I bought the extended warranty support. The extended warranty is useless because neither Generac nor the umbrella company they use for this extended service stands by this product. Don't waste your time or money. Avoid Generac.

This is an update. The unit is a horror to get started now a year later. Only used it for less than 3 hoursMechanics say it is quirky. Auto choke comes loose from bad design. Valves were set way too tight.I had a problem with their portable generator a few years ago leaking oil only after 2 starts so I am not happy with Generac anymore.

This thing is junk. Unfortunately by the time I used it for the first time it’s outside the return window. Went to use it, tried the push start and it turned over for a few seconds. Then nothing but clicks. I tried the pull start and it was really difficult to pull. Released the pressure on the wand and it pull started fine, but won’t stay running unless you keep your hand on the wand trigger. Tried the push start again. Nothing. So the internal pressure bypass is jacked up and the push start won’t work. Battery is charged. Two major issues right at the start. I needed the pressure washer today so now I have to go buy a new one that’s definitely not a Generac.

Very pleased with delivery, washer arrived earlier then promised and was very securely packaged by vendor TOOLS PLUS INC. Assembly was straightforward, took 20-30 minutes, the day after it was delivered. While assembling, I noticed oil on the engine mount plate by the oil cap and on the power washing hose that had been packaged next to it during shipping. I cleaned the oil off, put oil in the oil opening in the provided picture. I filled the gas tank with ethanol free fuel, about 16 oz’s. Note: follow starting directions in manual as there is a sequence to the starting steps. Doing so, it started on the second attempt right out of the box and first attempt as I stopped and restarted during my first hour of use. I started it 4-5 times during that hour. During use I smelled oil, upon closer inspection I found oil pooling all over on the engine mount plate underneath the oil cap and all the way around the base of the engine and mounting plate. As I looked closer I found the problem where the arrows in the provided picture are pointing. The orange oil cap screws into a plastic bracket that has an “O” ring that pushes/pops into the oil opening on the actual engine and then the bracket is bolted to the engine, as pictured. When the bolt is tight, as it should be and as it was when it arrived, the bracket with the “O” ring pops out where it enters the engine oil opening and that’s where all the oil was leaking out... a completely idiotic design in my opinion. After having this problem I came back here and I read another review posted here that complained about oil leakage. They didn’t identify where but my guess my problem was theirs as well. I have reached out to TOOLS PLUS INC and Generac and am waiting to hear back. While using the washer, it worked GREAT! I would give this a 5 star rating were it not for the oil problem. I have read many comments about poor service, if I have the same poor service experience I will leave my review the same, if not I will update it accordingly.

Order came promptly. Assembly was no problem. Although some pieces are plastic, they seem to be farely rugged. I do wish the wheels had steel rims instead of plastic. Over all, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. However, I had to make a couple mods. to make it more usable for me. 1) hose storage is behind the motor and pull cord. I made a metal bracket for the outside of the handle bar. 2) mine came with a sweep attachment. There's no storage on the unit so I added a couple brackets to hang it above the pull cord./gas tank. 3) had to add a place for extra nozzles. The hose seems cheaper at first glance, but after using it is, again, farely rugged. It's only 25 ft. Get another 25 footer. Ran 2 tanks of gas through it. It ran flawlessly. So far a great investment.The sweep attachment works great on concrete. No so much on decks. Anyway, giving this 5 stars!

The electric start on the unit failed after 16 months. I took it generacs authorized dealer, 7 weeks to repair it. The hose is terrible too, it constantly kinks and then blew out. Lucky for me I purchased the Square Trade Warranty. The repair bill was $291. I only use it around my home so maybe it had 10 hours of use time on it.If you are going to buy one don’t get the electric start, the part was impossible for the repair center to locate.

It works sometimes and is pretty cool, but all the profanities I say every other time it doesn’t work doesn’t make it worth itMine has a heck of a time restarting after cutting it off.The electric starter gets stuck in the on position at times. Makes an awful racketOverall, don’t waste $500 on this. Go to Home Depot and spend $250 on a Ryobi and use the rest to go buy margaritas or something more fun.

Like described .. Just be carefull they put a warning attached to the gas cap to not forgot to put oil . and i was to exited to use my washer i put the oil where the oil warning was ... Its was suposed to be attached to the oil orange cap ... I had to dismentle all part to be able to clean the oil in the gas tank and clean carburator and wire with carburator cleaner and i was able to use it ... My bad but Just be carefull

Pressure washer works great. Electric start is a very nice option. I don’t think I got the correct hose because this one is anything but ultra flexible it kinks very easily and I will replace it with a rubber hose. Came with everything intact except did not receive the soap blaster.

second Generac PW I have owned. This one has electric start; very good
