I wanted a metal detector pointer to use in conjunction with my metal detector. I'm a beginner at using these things, so I needed something that was inexpensive, easy to use, and didn't take too much effort to learn how to use it. This SUNPOW pointer was a good choice for me, with a few potential reservations. I like that it's got three modes that all let me know metal is up to 4" deep. The 9V battery installs easily under the orange cap, and on/off operation and mode switching is easy to do. The holster and lanyard are nice additions. The build quality of the pinpointer is not great and I'd venture to say it's more water-resistant than waterproof. Using it out in the rain was fine, but it didn't seem like the seal on the battery compartment or the general feel of it would make it good for submersion. I didn't test this as I didn't want mine to be literally "dead in the water", but if that's important to you I'd suggest reading through the other reviews or asking a question in the comments. Overall, for beginners who want to zero in on something, it's a good tool. It could also be used by a child who likes digging in the dirt or to find a ring that slipped off your finger while gardening. It's definitely not a tool that intermediate to advanced treasure hunters will seek out, but for me, while I get into a new hobby, I'm happy with it.

Good value. If you are just starting in detecting and don't want to go into debt buying equipment then this is the pinpointer for you. I'm a long-time detectorist that has owned and used numerous detectors and pinpointers over the past 45 years. What I wouldn't have paid for this pinpointer back in the day. A pinpointer saves you time, digging and energy by quickly showing you exactly where your found object is in the dirt. You'll know in an instant if your find is still in the hole, and where in the hole or if it's in the plug of dirt you've already taken out of the hole. No serious detectorist would be without one. It's waterproof, so you can even take it snorkeling or SCUBA diving or even in creeks where you need to pinpoint a find that you found with your detector. Looks to be sturdily built with a tuff molded plastic. Takes one 9v battery that will probably last your whole detecting season if you use a high quality name brand. This pinpointer can be set to alert you with audible beeps and vibration or just vibration for silent notification. Inexpensive, built well and works as well as any brand I've used.

My Honest review. Functioned as it should out of the box. This pointer works awesome, well built, easy to operate and detects objects in-and-around within 2" easily with authority . Many people complained about the difficulty of putting the battery in the pointer. Place the battery in the compartment first, then attach the connector. Reverse for removal to make this easy without breaking or stressing the wires. My pointer worked great the first day of detecting (5 digs) but then started to Beep randomly when not around any metal. (Brand new Duracell battery). It can be powered off and on to fix this issue, however after a few times of digging, it would do it again leading to possible faulty signals while in the hole. I returned for a replacement in kind, as I possibly have a defective item, but it seems to be consistent issue. The beep can be a little louder, but its loud enough for most work. Both vibe and beep function gives best of both worlds. I am hoping I had a defective item and the replacement will not have the reoccurring beeping issue as this pointer would meet the QDR (Quality/Dependability/Reliability) we all need in a budget friendly pointer. I intend to give a follow up review after receiving the replacement item.

All came well packed & nothing missing. Manual is fairly easy to read. Only taken it for a sweep in back yard so far. Learning & practicing. It is picking up metals to about 10cm with ease. No gold or Treasure yet!! You have to be patient with your sweeps, too quick & the machine confuses itself. A quick pause & slow it down does the trick. Pin Point Mode works nice. Great little foldable shovel/pick. It's not a minelab but it certainly does the job. Perfect starter kit for all ages.

I have purchased two times , just 20days back i loss it under water, now ordered again, its good under water, best in this price range, i will not say best in market but in this budget its best

Works very well, I thought it was broken but you need to turn it on, wait for it to beep before you can put it near metal or it will not work correctly. A+++ must have!

La verdad no me ha servido mucho, necesito realizar más pruebas pero no detecta lo que se supone estás filtrando

Es un gran producto para empezar y lo resumo: 1.- Necesitas un pinpointer, el detector grande te ayuda a dectectar dónde puede haber cosas pero el que te dice dónde cavar es este y su función la hace muy bien. 2.- Los materiales me parecieron muy buenos (quizá no excelente) pero el producto se siente de buena calidad y se ve que aguanta bastante tiempo. Lo elegí sobre los más baratos y no me arrepiento. 3.- La detención es muy buena, quizá sería bueno que trajera más tonos ya que solo te indica "cerca" (unos 10cm) y muy cerca (unos 5 Cms) sin embargo es bastante atinado cuando estás cavando. Me ayudó a encontrar varias cosas. 4.- lo único que hice fue poner un pedazo de manguera plástica en la punta (no afecta la detección) esto para poder cuidarlo ya que como lo metes a la tierra después de un rato se ensucia y a veces se raya. 5.- Lo meti al agua, no todo... Pero cuando menos hasta la mitad y funcionó excelente. Un buen producto.
