It is a great welder it is a little unwieldy but I was able to do my own TPO roof with about 800 dollars I paid a helper. It is a good machine. Recommend

It works as advertised. I am on about day 15 of repairing my tarp building (150X100... so not a small fix job) and all of my welds are holding. So, I guess it works well.

This is a monster of a plastic welder. Unlike another one I've reviewed that you plug in and it heats up metal wire clips or has a flat tip like a soldering iron, this one uses hot air and has the ability to feed thermoplastic rod onto the item you're joining. It heats up to use in less than two minutes. The kit includes a roller to smooth out and flatten the plastic bead you put down. Unlike the ones I mentioned above that cost about 1/3 the price, this one seems to be designed for more professional serious plastic welding. It's heavy and a bit bulky to use, but there is a good reason for that. It has a motor and a fan that feeds very hot air into the nozzle to melt the plastic. Also unlike the above mentioned hot metal tip ones, you don't force metal wire clips into the plastic to bind the two pieces. It seems to be designed to weld large flat plastic pieces together, rather than fix a hole or tear in something plastic. Unfortunately, and this is one of the reasons for only 4 stars, that is not explained very well. The documentation is pretty sparse, and pretty basic, and lacks any real instruction. Until I watched their video on their advert I had no idea what that roller or the other wooden handled tool was used for. The documentation shows how to turn it on, and how to change the spare heating element it included, presumably when and if that fails. Very little instruction on how to actually use it. That is unfortunate because once I dug around on the internet and figured out how it's used, and then tested it out on couple pieces of flat plastic, it worked great. Another negative is that, for this price, over a hundred bucks, you would think they would include a few pieces of thermoplastic rod used to feed through that tube. Again, it lacks documentation. Written on the front of the welder are three cryptic white (see pic) messages concerning what heat setting. No real explanation of these. Bottom line... a great welder that lacks documentation on how to use it or even what everything written on the welder means. A good well written understandable instruction booklet and some thermoplastic rods to start you off, and this would be a five star piece of equipment.
