I'm very happy with the quality and performance of this seemingly simple mounting arm. The parts are well made, with no moulding seams or chips. The ball joints in the arms have an embedded silicone ring in them, increasing the grip and friction as you release the tension on the clamp; this means that there isn't a sudden release of the joint and you can *actually* do fine adjustments.It is lightweight, yet still supports my rather hefty Razor webcam and Pixel 9 Pro phone. It's the perfect addition to my home office setup, and allows me to adjust where my webcam is for meetings on my extra-tall monitor so I can have a normal angle on my video without having to fiddle with a tripod.I also want to highlight that every single part of the packaging was recyclable paper. No plastic bags or seals, and everything was still perfectly safe and scratch-free. I really appreciate sustainable packing materials. I will definitely order from Smallrig in the future.

This SmallRig magic arm is exactly what I needed for overhead camera views. I got this for some product photography shots & video work. I wanted it to hold my iPhone at various angles over products or around them.I attached the base to a light pole I have in my studio. Moving the various pivot points around to get the phone where I wanted was easy enough. The only thing I notice is that you really have to tighten down each joint well so things don't slip out of place, which changes the position of where you want your phone to point. Additionally, even when things are extremely tight, the entire assembly can shift if you bump it. It sort of has some flex or sway in it. So as long as you're careful to set it where you want it and not bump it, everything should work well.Overall it is a well-designed rig and does what I wanted it to do. I took one star off because setting the desired positions can be finicky, and also for the flex or "sag" of the arm when extended. This is just a setup issue as I said and you will ultimately get it to do and stay where you want it.

I continue to be impressed with SmallRig's products. I use this magic arm for both phone and web cam mounts when I need to move away from my main desk setup, including while on travel. The claw mount is great for both flat edges like tables, or supports like table legs, rails, etc. I really like the locking mount that accepts a hex wrench for really locking things down.The segmented ball joints hold really well and the handles are large enough to get good leverage on, making it simple to adjust and lock into place. These things are cheap enough that I will probably grab a few more as backups and spares when I need to hold small LED lights, remote screens, etc.I also use this with a SmallRig iPhone cage and everything just works very well together. Great design and really functional.

I use this for copying old photos and documents, and it works perfectly. Like all SmallRig products, it's well made, solid, and easy to use. It's heavy enough to be solid, but light enough to be easy to move and use. All in all, excellent.
