An Incredible Laser w/Unreal Power & Well Built - I can't express in words how satisfied I am with this laser. The Ray5 w/10W laser module greatly exceeds my expectations. The laser is very well-built, and was rather easy to assemble as long as you follow the directions step-by-step. Took me about 45 minutes to assemble it - as this was my first laser and I've never put one together before. In the short time that I have owned it I have already made fantastic engravings such as coasters, art, monograms, and other fantastic projects. I can't believe how powerful this device is...simply SUBERB! I did my internet due diligence [for two weeks] before purchasing this specific unit by Longer, and I'm glad I did. There were many other laser options out there, but the Ray5 received fantastic reviews from everybody that uses one, and most of them were using the 5W version. I decided to go with a 10W unit because I wanted to make sure that I did not outgrow the 5W unit too quickly - if that's even possible because the 5W unit received rave reviews for what it could do. Plus the fact the Longer Ray5 has a color display in the left front that makes things so much easier when using it. Yes, I had several questions after assembling the laser and starting to use it - and I must say, product support from Longer has been simply incredible. Review: Good with caveats. - I'll keep it short. 3 stars because: It's cheap Assembly is easy It's precise MOST of the time You definitely need to purchase the limit switches kit, otherwise it's very hit or miss on the precision The safety glasses in the kit are trash, get good laser safety glasses from the start And lastly, THE FIRE PROTECTION DOES NOT WORK! So be very vigilant when using it at higher power. I was doing material test on a piece of mahogany and I was working in the other end of the shop when I saw the smoke with flames and everything. I had done the same test on walnut and it was fine, so mahogany is not that laser resistant. The laser head couldn't be bothered to reset to home and it kept working over the flames, leading to melted plastic parts and soot all over the electronics. All and all, it's decent for the price, needs additional accessories and always be around it when working! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ First experience with a laser etcher *by S***7 on 18 May 2023* I've used a desktop CNC before, but couldn't do some of the finer writing I needed to do for the lid of an urn. I ended up the the Longer Ray 10W. I did have a problematic power adapter, but Longer replaced it after a few emails. Since I received it, I have already used it on projects that I would have done CNC work previously. It is incredible. I am using Lightburn as my software. For the most part, with my relatively simple projects, the learning curve has been quick. The "medallions" shown in the one photo are both etched and cut using the laser.
