Truly calms anxiety rather than causing (or attempting to cause) sleepiness
We have a 3 year old mixed breed rescue who is very high energy and suffers from separation anxiety and is just generally anxious. I have to give her sedatives before taking her to the vet, and she still requires at least 2 vet techs to hold her for the doctor. I've tried several calming treats as well as a thundershirt and none had any obvious effect on her. We did have the pheremone plug in for a while and I thought it MIGHT have helped a little, but it was barely perceptible. These are the first calming product that really seems to work on her. Don't get me wrong, she doesn't get SUPER chill, but she is markedly more chill than normal. When family members come home she normally goes bonkers, jumping all over them, squeal-whining, getting in their faces trying to give them kisses. She goes especially nuts over my husband coming home from work. The first day I gave her these, she still greeted him excitedly at the door, but there was hardly any jumping. She circled him, wagging her tail with her usual vigor and still whined a little, but it was such an improvement. What I really like is that she just seems like she's more relaxed the same way she does after a good long romp with other dogs at the dog park or doggy day care, or a strenuous hike somewhere with lots of new smells. She doesn't have a bunch of nervous energy, but she doesn't seem groggy or sleepy like she does when given sedatives. It seems to genuinely act as an anti-anxiety treatment, not just something to dope her up and make her sleepy like treats with melatonin or tryptophan or actual prescription sedatives are meant to do. I think that's why those things don't work well for her, they might make her sleepy, but her mind is still racing. That probably feels even worse, imagine feeling scared that something bad is going to happen, on edge and hypervigilant, but also struggling to keep your eyes open. No wonder she still freaks out at the vet. One other thing I want to mention is that she has a very sensitive stomach, she gets loose stools very easily, has to be on a specific food and I also add fiber to her daily meals. I got the peanut butter flavor because she can't have chicken and I know she handles real peanut butter fine. She's had no changes in her potty habits since starting these, and I generally give her the full dose for her weight most days. (2 treats per day, she weighs around 60lbs.) If your pup is jumpy and wound up all the time, I would definitely recommend giving these a try. I hope that with regular use, as she experiences her days without so much anxiety, she will come to feel less nervous in general without the supplement. But if I have to keep her on these long term, I prefer that over having to put her on prescription meds.

A true life saver!!
One of my dogs has horrible anxiety to fireworks & thunder and I've tried several OTC options before stumbling on these... which are by far the best! They kick in very quickly and truly take the edge off. She normally shakes/trembles and hides and 15-20 minutes after eating 2 of these she's laying on the couch(under her blanket) sleeping. Don't get me wrong, she's not perfectly content like my big guy who will walk through the neighborhood on the 4th of July, but she's comfortable. She happily takes them like she knows they are her happy pills. I've even given them to my neighbor for her JRT to try and now she buys them. I can't recommend them enough to anyone who has a dog that suffers with storm or firework phobias. Make sure to keep the bag sealed or they dry out. Midge is a 65lb Pittie mix and we give her 2 at the first sign of a big storm rolling in or when fireworks start. 🐾♥️

Did not work for my dog
These did not seem to have a calming effect, and my dog threw up that night. She doesn’t have a sensitive stomach and was totally fine after that, so I worry it was these. They also smell really bad.

Good option.
Was recommended by vet to help with anxiety and hyper active dog. Have tried other brands and options with little results. This vet recommended brand has helped. Not as much as hoped. But can notice a difference. Have been using for almost two weeks now. Defintiely is seen as treats rather than a treatment to my dog. No problem giving to her as would other treats.

My Beagle Wouldn't Touch Them, Flavor Miss
I grabbed the VetriScience Calm & Confident Chews to help my beagle chill during thunderstorms and fireworks, since he's a nervous wreck, but it was a total flop—he did not like the flavor at all and refused to eat them even when I tried hiding them in treats. The peanut butter scent smelled okay to me, but he sniffed and walked away every time. I gave it a few tries over a week, but no luck; I ended up wasting most of the 60-count bag. The chews are soft and easy to break, but that didn't matter. For the price, it's a bummer when your dog turns up his nose.

These do work.
Before a thunderstorm or stressful event, I give these to my Aussie, and it really helps him

Not suitable for my dog
I really wanted this product to work.Unfortunately, it did not work for my dog at all. My dog is small (around 11 lb), and I gave him half of a chew as recommended. Within about 30 seconds, he vomited. I thought it might have been a coincidence, so I tried again the next day — same result. Even when given about 20 minutes after food, he vomited almost immediately again (mostly foam with a bit of food). It seems like his stomach could not tolerate something in the formula (possibly the colostrum or flavoring). Because the reaction was so fast and happened twice, I had to stop using it completely. So I cannot recommend it for small dogs

Works like a charm
I have two adorable morkies, Ivy & Holly, who can get a bit anxious sometimes. But guess what? When they’re snuggled up next to me with music playing or the TV on, they’re completely at ease! However, the moment it gets quiet, even the tiniest noise can send them barking as if someone’s bursting in! It’s amusing, but I can feel it taking a toll on me! I knew I needed to find a solution for all of us. I explored all sorts of options, and I’m thrilled to share that these calming chews are a fantastic find—they work like a charm, and they absolutely love them! I give them one at night, about 30 minutes before bedtime, so we can all drift off peacefully and they sleep soundly through the night. Plus, I give Ivy one during thunderstorms since they can be a little scary for her, and it's made such a positive difference for her!
