## Description

Pemko automatic door bottoms consist of an aluminum case which surrounds a movable drop bar seal. The drop bar seal is actuated by a plunger which contacts the jamb as the door is closing, forcing the drop bar seal down against the floor or threshold.

Review: 6 months later - This works as expected. It took some effort to install since I'm only mildly handy with routers and the like, but for anyone with some experience, it should be a breeze to install. As a word of caution, as I was about to route the mortise, I realized that the magnet for the security system was in the way. I had to call my security provider to move the wired door jamb unit up and install a new magnet in the door higher up. Luckily, they did not charge me for this, but you might want to think of this before the door is off the hinge.
Review: These work great. - It goes a lot easier with a router jig and a plunge router.

**Q: is this a surface mounted unit**
A: Negative:  Notice the two flares on the bottom.  If you need the surface mount order a different unit

**Q: do you sell a 30" version?  Thanks!!!**
A: The description says that it can only be cut 2 inches. How can you cut the 36 inch to a 30 inch? Why not create a drop down option for people to select the nominal length they want (i.e., 30", 32", 34"). That's what everyone else does on Amazon.

**Q: Why would an automatic door bottom seal be required?**
A: An automatic door bottom is required for a door with an uneven space in between the bottom of the door and the threshold. In my case, on one side of the bottom, there was a 1/4" gap, and on the other side, a 3/4" gap. A standard door jamb will not do the job you require. The automatic bottom has a spring and it presses the seal into place. Hope this helps.

**Q: Will this keep cigarette smell out?  We live in an apartment building and the smell in the hall can be very strong.**
A: If installed properly the unit makes a positive contact with floor and should stop odors from leaking in. It requires a wood door so the slot can be cut out for installation. The movement of air from your hall to room interior is more a matter of room air pressure differential. The foul air may still leak through door jamb gaps.

Works well but had to fabricate a stop to keep the free end of the door bottom from catching on the latch side of the door jamb. Would have appreciated some provision from the factory.
