SoundBeast AV to HDMI Converter & Recorder 2.0 - AV RCA Composite to 1080P HDMI TV Upscaler - for VCR, VHS, DVD, Camcorder, Hi8, Gaming - 4:3 Aspect Ratio - USB Video Capture

I bought this to transfer and upscale video from old VHS tapes to digital. The device worked flawlessly and allowed me to produce good quality 1080P 60 fps video from my old family VHS-C tapes without distorting the 4:3 aspect ratio. One important caveat though, there is a USB-C output that you can use to both power the device and provide a USB output to your computer, but if you use this port to capture video, it doesn't upscale and stays in its native 640 x 480 - 30 fps format. Instead, plug the HDMI out from the device into a HDMI to USB capture device and you can get the upscaled video. Use OBS Studio or other video capture software to record the upscaled video.

While this was recommended from a YouTube video I took a chance. It turned out to be one of the best purchases I have made. It is turned to grainy videos into excellent HD videos

Does its job to covert my old laserdisc RCA to HDMI. Best results are to upscale from 480 to 720. I would have given it a five but my one complaint is with the case. The RCA jacks have only enough clearance via the case for cheap cables. If you’re using monster cables or any other premium brand they will not work with case as is. I fixed this by filing the openings on the case to provide the necessary clearance and it’s fine. Not sure what the engineer that designed the case was thinking. Again otherwise it does what it advertises.

This item makes it easy to hook a vcr or camcorder up to your TV. You just hook the HDMI cable into one side of the soundboard AV and the yellow, red and white cords to the other side of the Soundbeast AV. The other end of the yellow, red, and white cords or cord , depending of your device goes into the VCR or camcorder. For a VCR hookup you will need the yellow, red and white cords on the other end to go into the VCR for VCR hook up. For .my camcorder I have one main cord on the other end of the yellow, red, and while cord that hooks up to my camcorder to play on the TV. The picture is Great!!! Thank you soundBeeast!!!

This HDMI converter is a little more expensive than many alternatives, but that comes with a bit of extra functionality that I really like, so value-wise I think its great. I set it up on what is essentially a remote surveillance camera feed. I love the ability to switch the resolution and the aspect ratio. Just having that option really is worth the added price, to me. The picture is just as good as it used to be on the old monitor, which had the RCA connections. Those connections are getting very hard to find on new monitors and TV's, though, which leads to the need for this converter. One minor issue I had with it was that the higher quality, thicker composite video cable I'm using would not fit into the cutouts on the case. There was no problem with the connectors themselves, but they are recessed a bit, and it was just the openings in the plastic case that were a bit too small. I solved this by removing the case and filing out the holes to allow me to connect my cable, then reassembling the converter. Now my cable fits and everything works great. I will note that the case is painted black, so after filing the hole, that area was white. I just used a marker to touch it up.

This is an easy to use upscaler for converting VHS tapes to high quality digital files. One flaw with this product (which some of the less expensive upscalers also suffer from) is that faces have an unacceptable red band/hue across the upper portion of the frame. Since I am unable to correct the flaw in the settings, I am going with another upscaler which does not alter the color of faces. Bummer.

Works as stated. Has switch for 4:3 picture size. Also 720 image output. Outputs hdmi to smart t v . Takes old style Y video, W & R sound input. It does require usb power input so when planning cables & power allow for it. I connected old vhs player to newer samsung tv. If it lasts it is worth price.

It does a good job converting analog to digital via HDMI . Yitrox does the same though for a better price .

I bought this one in preference to others available because it featured on a few youtube tutorials on video capture. It works well for my purpose of capturing old VHS tapes before my player finally dies! I'm running it into a ugreen hdmi capture box to my laptop, and using OBS Studio software to record. I don't expect top quality but this combination seems to be extracting the best it can from the source material, some of which is 2nd or 3rd generation copies.

Seems to work very well. For copying VHS to the computer it has built in video capture card so you don’t need to buy a separate capture card. And used this was you don’t need an AC adapter as it gets power from the USB port on the PC.

A great piece of kit. Beware cheaper imitations as I know there are many different brands offering a similar thing at a cheaper price. This one is fautless & a worthwhile investment. Thanks

I bought this as three of the cheaper ones weren't bright enough for my TV. This one, however, is perfect. It's very bright, and the colours pop. A very welcome addition, and I can finally even play Doom 64 after all this time. Excellent product.
