Here is a breakdown of how it works and how it improves cooling performance: The Problem: The Bending CPU Intel's LGA 1700 CPUs (for 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Core processors) are known to have a "bending" or "warping" issue. The stock CPU retention mechanism, or "lid," applies pressure unevenly, causing the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) on top of the CPU to become slightly concave or warped over time.
