Very thick paper, and nice size pads with thick covers that act like clipboards
These sketch pads are the perfect size for outdoor nature sketching, as well as for taking to classes, for students, and professional users. I chose the A5 size, which gives you 2 sketchpads, each containing 50 sheets per pad. You can of course use both sides of the paper if you want to, giving you 100 pages, but I prefer to just use 1 page per drawing. This gives you the opportunity to add colour at a later date. The paper is suitable for using a variety of mediums, so you can take your pick whatever you prefer to use. Both the front and back covers are really thick and hard, almost like a clipboard. This gives you something to lean against when you're out and about. The spiral binding makes it easy to open the page out flat. Each page is perforated along the top edge, so you can tear your drawings cleanly out of the pad if you want to. The paper colour is slightly off-white, and has a slightly textured finish. The pages feel substantially thick and weighty. They actually feel thicker than the 180gsm it says they are.I would say the price feels about right for the quality and quantity of paper, so I’m happy to recommend this brand of sketch pad.

Good quality sketchbook
This is a good quality sketchbook. The paper is a nice thickness and it’s a nice fat pad with lots of paper for artwork. The paper takes ink and pencil nicely. This is exactly what you want/need from a sketchbook.

Sketch pads
Excellent quality sketch pads, the paper is nice and thick and amazongly smooth. It's so nice to draw on and a good size for practice sketches of small pieces of work. I think thet're absolutely smashing and I would buy them again for sure.

Good quality sketching sheets
I tried out the A4 Stationery Island sketch pad with 50 sheets, advertised also as 100 'pages'.Each sheet is perforated, so it can easily be torn out if desired. The pad is advertised as 'natural white'. This is quite far off a brilliant white and so please be aware that it is a natural white colour (see photo for the difference to the inside of the cover (which is a brilliant white) compared to the colour of the sheets in this pack). The pad is advertised as 180g/m2 and this seems accurate to my eye and hand. The pages are thick. You'd get away with doing light sketch work on each side but nothing too heavy as you can see shadow through the pages (for example). If you need/want double-side then Stationery Island do a thicker version at 200g/m2 at a slightly higher price. Equally if you don't need such a thick paper and e.g. 160g/m2 would do for single-sided use then cheaper alternatives are available.NB according to my ruler each page is a fraction smaller than standard A4 size - e.g. about half a millimetre narrower than standard A4, in case this really matters to you. However, this is seemingly a good price for 180g/m2 and so it's 5 stars from me - just be aware of the colour.

Good quality and handy size
Good quality, thick, textured paper suitable for a variety of mediums. The smaller A5 size is ideal for popping in my handbag for drawing on the go.The pages are perforated at the top so can be easily taken out. The spiral bounding ensures the whole page can be used and kept flat. The pads feel well protected and sturdy thanks to the thick card cover and backs.Highly recommend!
