When you hold it like you’re going to solder (or reflow) it begins to heat up. It heats up pretty quickly (I was impressed). I didn’t make a fuss about measuring the temperature or even really reading the instructions, it was extremely easy to use. For the price this purchase was totally worth it. I used it to fix his board, I used it on a couple circuits for myself, as my classmates noticed it they began to ask to use it on their boards too.
