Champion 4000-Watt RV Ready Portable Inverter Generator

Very happy with this generator. Used it for a home renovation where there was no power and it worked wonderfully. Easy to operate. Long lasting power with each tank of gas. Starts up easily. Lightweight. Relatively quiet.

I got the Champion 4000-Watt Dual Fuel Inverter Generator mainly for work, and it’s been a solid purchase. I transport cars in an enclosed trailer and use it to run my vacuum for cleaning inside. It handles that with no problem and has plenty of power. We’ve also used it at home during outages, and it’s such a relief knowing we have backup power ready. I love the dual fuel option — switching between gas and propane is super easy. Easy to use: Setup was quick, and it didn’t take long to figure out how to run it. Portable: The handle makes it easy to move around, which is great since I take it with me often. Noise: Not silent, but quieter than other generators I’ve had, and the sound doesn’t bother me while I’m working. Overall, this generator is reliable, versatile, and simple to use. Perfect for both work and home. Definitely recommend it if you need portable power with the flexibility of dual fuel

I have used this for roughly 24 hours continuously with no problems. Electric delivery seemed very clean with no problems running TV, PC, Monitors, Router, Fridge etc. Additionally I was running the circulating fan on the HVAC the whole time. I WAS NOT RUNNING the COMPRESSOR FYI. So this should power a Gas Furnace and Fan just fine is what I am driving at with that. Additionally it was able to run separately the power hog appliances like the microwave, coffee maker and I have tested it with a space heater so it can handle what appears up to the run load easily ongoing and has the umph to get through those items starting up. I did follow the instructions before using. i.e. ran it under no load and then with some load and ran for a few hours and then changed the oil again etc. I will say that you will only get ~8-10 hours run time at best under a regular load so expect times where you will need an overnight top off.

This is an excellent value generator. I've bought lots of generators and this is my favorite. Small and light but lots of power and the 30 amp RV plug makes it a top choice. Highly recommend!

I have only run it through its 5 hour break in period, but it worked fine. I won't know until the next power outage. That being said it was able to power a 12000 BTU air condition without ever coming out of ECO mode. It is a little noisier that some generators in the same class, but not enough I have to wear ear protection. It is portable, but barely.

Amazon is a ripoff! Buyer beware! We purchased this generator in December 2024. We used it maybe twice for very short periods. It was always hard to start despite the advertisement saying the opposite. Then about 10 months after purchasing when we needed it to work it refused to keep running. It would start up, run for a couple minutes and shut off. Then it would be impossible to start it up again. We contacted Champion customer support who walked us through many efforts at troubleshooting which eventually ended in having to take it to an authorized repair center. Today I was informed that the generator is beyond repair and will not be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Apparently it was allowed to run continuously with zero maintenance evidenced by the fact that there was lots of dirt and debris inside the engine. And apparently the oil was never changed. I was shocked! This was sold as a brand new item, not a refurbished one. It came from Amazon in this shape. Disgusting! Apparently it was a return which must’ve been shined up, put into a brand new box and resold as new to an unsuspecting customer. Too bad we didn’t run a thorough test on it within the return window. Now it is too late to get our money back. But it not too late to give a bad review. I wish I could give minus 5 stars. I am sure this Champion generator is a very good product in itself. Purchasing it from Amazon was the downfall. Best price is not always best price as in our case we lost it all and still do not have a generator.

I currently own a pair of Champion 2500W dual fuel inverter generators, along with a 50 amp parallel kit. When I saw that Champion came out with a 4000W dual fuel inverter model at a very reasonable price, I decided that having a 3rd one around the house wouldn't be a bad idea due to periodic power failures in the area. I had read some reviews indicating that they had issues running this 4000W model on propane, but thought to myself that they must not be following the directions in the owners manual. Well... I followed the instructions to the letter, and no matter how hard I tried I could not get it to run off of a brand new (and full) 20 pound propane tank. I gave up after about 45 minutes and filled the gas tank with fresh gasoline. I put the dial on the "choke" setting, and after 1 pull it started right up and I moved the dial to the "gasoline" setting. I ran the generator on gasoline for about 90 minutes to break it in, and then began applying small loads. It worked perfectly. The next day, I tried the propane again, and now it's working perfectly on propane. I don't understand why it needed to be broken in on gasoline first, but I drained the gas tank and will mostly run this generator off of propane. The biggest differences between my new 4000W dual fuel model and my pair of 2500W dual fuels are: (1) the weight (the 4000W model is 52 pounds as opposed to 39 pounds for the 2500W model - at 70 years old this 13 pound difference is noticeable), and (2) the noise level (64dBA from 23 feet with 25% load, as opposed to 53 dBA from 23 feet with 25% load) - this is a fairly significant difference, and my research indicates that the 4000W model could reach 70dBA at full load. All of this being said, I think that the new 4000W dual fuel model is decent, especially since it is RV ready. It has both a 30 amp RV plug, as well as a 20 amp receptacle. Until there's a power outage at home, I take to the storage lot where my motorhome is so that I can power it up and run one of the air conditioners while I'm working on it. The price I paid ($699) is not too bad, especially since I paid $630 for EACH of my 2500W dual fuel Champions back in 2022.
