Works like a charm
I purchased this live trap in the medium size due to a problem with chipmunks in my detached garage getting into anything they thought might be something they could eat, thus causing a mess. I received it just yesterday afternoon via Amazon, set it with a dollop of peanut butter on the trip lever and a few bird seeds at the entrance while we went about our work---ensuring we closed the garage door. Within 30 minutes one critter was caught and then this morning after hearing a rustling noise in the garage I checked the trap awhile later and caught another. I bought the medium size just in case a squirrel wandered into the garage which allowed for more room in the trap. The peanut butter attracts the critter, the door closes and you can just lift the cage, take it far away, open it up and there goes the problem critter off in a new home. The cage is sturdy for a smaller animal, eg., chipmunk, mouse, etc. and is easy to set, carry off and release the unwanted animal. All in all a great product at a reasonable price.

Not good for squirrels but great for chipmunks!
UPDATE: I have purchased 2 now, & the 2nd had weaker solder joints at the back of the cage. I caught a squirrel who was able to bend the wires, so I would not recommend for larger animals & would check the joints carefully. See 2nd pic.INCREDIBLE!!!! We have had chipmunks borrowing into the stone foundation of our house built in 1790, & digging holes all over the dog’s grassy potty area. This causes the dogs to dig to try to unearth them. I love chipmunks & think they are so cute, & love to watch them on the rest of our property. But NOT digging holes in the foundation or where someone could get hurt. I have tried other traps-bucket tilt lid traps, Have-A-Heart, nothing. I put this trap out with a teaspoon of peanut butter & some bird sunflower seed & 5 MINUTES LATER caught the first one! I like that the mesh is small so they don’t hurt or kill themselves trying to escape. It’s easy to set & release. This was a pretty good sized chipper, so we will see how the trigger plate is for the really small ones. 10/10!

A very effective trap!
A very effective trap! We purchased this trap about 4 weeks ago in May after having limited success with a different model of “no kill” trap. We know that the rats are in our yard, we just want to trap and release them a good distance from our home. After baiting (we used a combination of peanut butter, bacon and sunflower seeds) and setting the trap the first time, it was about 4 days for the first rat to take the bait and get caught. After the first 4 weeks we have trapped and released a total of four rats! We will continue to set the trap as long as we’re seeing success with the trap. I would highly recommend this trap. Relatively easy to bait, easy to set, easy to clean. Very happy with this purchase.

Quality if-y and needs a handle. But did work first time!
This worked the first time we used it. Large brown rat. The product was obviously well thought out... EXCEPT there is NO handle. The quality of the metal is not great and to add a smallish handle on top would have been very wise. We used gloves and had to pick up by opposite corners. Since could not carry it we put the cage in a brown box and carried the box out to where we planned to release it. Fortunately the rat was fairly stunned it had been caught and we discovered quickly so it did not rustle around nor try to attack us. We are grateful it is gone. But really people ... a handle would be smart. Not sure how durable it is as wire is very small and if that huge rat had been in longer it would have been outta there. Thx to whoever invented it but please upgrade with handle on top!

Excellent inexpensive purchase. It does its job well!
Although we would have purchased a HavAHeart humane trap, we decided to purchase this brand, since we thought we might need more than one.We have two, and we have caught four mice in the last two weeks, since we bought the first trap, but three of those were caught in two days.We aren’t sure what has caused the sudden appearance of multiple mice, since this was never an issue before, but we are very pleased that we purchased this brand of trap. The trap is easy to set and add bait, and it closes securely and stays secure for transport to a field a bit away from our park. It is also easy to release when “rehoming” the little critters.Five stars, without a doubt.

I caught 5 rats in two months!
I have captured 5 rats in this cage in the last two months.. I have been unable to identify how the rats get into my living room, but am glad to have this cage trap. Put a paper towel on the floor under the cage. Put the cage against a wall where the rats go. Put a full tablespoon of creamy peanut butter on the treadle. Smear a slight amount of peanut butter on the cage bottom from the entry to the treadle to attract the rats in. Sprinkle old rat turds in and around the cage to make the rats feel at ease.

Not as sensitive as it needs to be
Having suffered a dead mouse in a wall cavity after I had plugged the access point I wanted to reduce the local mouse population, but I have bird feeders and have on a couple of occasions killed birds that were attracted to the peanut butter I had used as bait in traditional spring traps. So this humane trap seemed like the way to go. I baited it with peanut butter without setting the trap and something, on several occasions, managed to lick the peanut butter off without springing the trap. Also, I had observed that the peanut butter might still be there overnight but would disappear some time in the early afternoon. Though it was somewhat rare, I had seen mice during daylight hours. So I increased the sensitivity of the trap by putting a loop of scotch tape around the bar that goes into the loop, effectively shortening the distance it would have to move in order to spring the trap. Also, I loosely put the same tape on top of the peanut butter to require that the critter work a little harder to get to the bait. After this, I caught a gray squirrel. It barely fit into the cage and was furious and terrified. With leather gloves on, I carefully released it. So, there you have it. The trap works, but may need "help" to work properly.
