It guides advanced seekers through a transformative path toward divine presence, emphasizing the necessity of self-mastery and mentorship. Celebrated for its profound metaphysical insights and poetic depth, this book is a cornerstone for those pursuing higher spiritual evolution. ## Description Journey to the Lord of Power is the first English translation of Ibn 'Arabi's twelfth-century text dealing with spiritual ascent. 'Arabi, whose metaphysical teachings have had a profound influence on both the Muslim and Christian worlds, is known as one of the greatest writers of mystical love poetry of all time. Written in answer to the questions of a friend, this illuminating guide describes the evolutionary path of our higher spiritual aspirations--the quest for the ultimate reality, the journey toward God. It is chiefly concerned with spiritual retreat, an advanced and potentially dangerous Sufi practice that aims at the attainment of the Presence of God through absolute abandonment of the world. Realizing the imagination's deceptive power, 'Arabi warns that this form of retreat should not be undertaken except at the order of a sheikh or by one who has mastered the self. Each stage of the journey is accompanied by a temptation which can be overcome only by an unshakable desire for God. 'Arabi explains each step of the ascent leading toward human perfection. In this perilous voyage of self-discovery, the reader will encounter the Realms of the mineral, vegetable, and animal worlds, eventually reaching the Gardens and the Throne of Mercy. The traveler of the Sufi mystic path is called upon to cleanse his or her heart in order to safely reach the final destination--the Lord of Power. Review: How to get closer to creator - Very good and deep ... How to get closer to creator and what to expect in different stages. Review: Excellent book for the Sufi seeker - Let's make this clear. This book is an excellent read for someone following the Sufi path. But it contains so much depth that an ordinary person will find it difficult to comprehend. The author is a renowned Sufi saint that shares his experience through parables. Each time you read the same chapter, you get a new meaning. This is not a book to be read only once or to be read at one go. You have to meditate of the meaning of each chapter to be able to understand. ## Features - Journey to the Lord of Power: A Sufi Manual on Retreat ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #46,999 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #72 in Spiritualism #82 in History of Religion #165 in Religious History | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 122 Reviews | ## Images ![Inner Traditions Journey to the Lord of Power: A Sufi Manual on Retreat - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91ut0aV-HOL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ How to get closer to creator *by S***M on 2 July 2021* Very good and deep ...
