A guide to some of the worldโs most fascinating places, as seen and experienced by writer, television host, and relentlessly curious traveler Anthony Bourdain Anthony Bourdain saw more of the world than nearly anyone. His travels took him from the hidden pockets of his hometown of New York to a tribal longhouse in Borneo, from cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, Paris, and Shanghai to Tanzaniaโs utter beauty and the stunning desert solitude of Omanโs Empty Quarterโand many places beyond. In World Travel , a life of experience is collected into an entertaining, practical, fun and frank travel guide that gives readers an introduction to some of his favorite placesโin his own words. Featuring essential advice on how to get there, what to eat, where to stay and, in some cases, what to avoid, World Travel provides essential context that will help readers further appreciate the reasons why Bourdain found a place enchanting and memorable. Supplementing Bourdainโs words are a handful of essays by friends, colleagues, and family that tell even deeper stories about a place, including sardonic accounts of traveling with Bourdain by his brother, Christopher; a guide to Chicagoโs best cheap eats by legendary music producer Steve Albini, and more. Additionally, each chapter includes illustrations by Wesley Allsbrook. For veteran travelers, armchair enthusiasts, and those in between, World Travel offers a chance to experience the world like Anthony Bourdain. Review: Travel changes you - As Anthony Bourdain once famously said, "Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, lifeโand travelโleaves marks on you." From the neon-lit streets of Tokyo to the bustling markets of Mexico City, Bourdain offers readers a unique perspective on the world's most exciting destinations. What sets "World Travel" apart is Bourdain's writing style. His prose is direct, honest, and unapologetic, which only adds to the book's charm. He pulls no punches in his opinions, and his sense of humor is always close at hand. One of the most compelling aspects of the book is Bourdain's passion for food. He's always on the lookout for the best local cuisine, and his descriptions of meals are mouth-watering. Whether he's digging into street food in Singapore or indulging in a lavish feast in Paris, Bourdain's love of food is contagious. In conclusion, "World Travel: An Irreverent Guide" is an excellent book for anyone who loves to travel, eat, or simply enjoys a good story. Bourdain's unique perspective, his witty humor, and his infectious passion for life make this a must-read for anyone looking to explore the world and leave their own mark on it. Review: Nice and Informative - Our 38 year old son was very excited to receive this as a gift. He had been eyeing it in stores for several years. It is nice in the fact that it gives the history and background of food from around the world. The information is very nicely presented.

Interesting Read
Good book, but a bit disjointed. It is more vignettes about a variety of places, versus in depth insight. Still enjoyable, though.

For anyone who loves travel!
I told my family this was their Motherโs Day gift to me, and I am loving every single page. I have to admit I bought this book simply because of the Bourdain name without knowing anything about it.. but I am getting so much more out of it than I thought! The book is divided by countries that Tony visited, and includes what he thought of each location, places he went and how many times he had been there, things he did, etc. Then there are behind the scenes stories from the people around him that reveal things about Tony and his lifestyle, and perhaps my favorite stories are from the restaurant owners who got โTonyโdโ etc. Itโs probably not meant to be read cover to cover but I am doing so, and this book is satisfying my need to get out of the country without being able to get out of the country. I wouldnโt consider myself a โbook readerโ.. I just love travel and would recommend this to anyone who has a travel bucket list.

Great for travelers who love food
If you're a fan of Bourdain, his shows and narratign style, then you will love this book. The various tidbits on information on food in the cities he visits truly add to the experience once you're there, or they will at the very least want to go there.

A scam
This book is a scam. It has hardly anything written by Bourdain. Instead it has some quotes cribbed from the numerous TV series. It has a lot of filler such as airport information for each city and description of public transport. Do we really care? This is a shameless attempt to profit from a peripheral relationship with Bourdain and the tragedy of his death. A disgrace
