What are the ingredients?

The ingredients listed on the bottle: artificial flavor, water, propylene glycol

Does this taste the same as the discontinued mccormick vanilla butternut extract?

I've used them both and can't say that they are exactly the same, but I liked them both. Really delicious in pancakes and French toast. That McCormick Cake Batter flavor is good too. Only problem is that I use these flavorings up way too fast. Good luck.

What are the ingredients listed on the bottle?

Artificial flavor, water, propylene glycol, xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, FD&C yellow #5, FD&C red #40.

is this a sweet or savory product?

This is a flavoring extract, similar to vanilla extract or lemon extract; there's no salt or spice or sugar or sweetener in it, but just the buttery essence. Just like actual butter, it could be used in making sweet foods OR savory foods--it all depends on what you want to add a butter flavor to. It is fantastic in sweeter baked goods like cookies, cakes, muffins, sweet breads, etc. It's also wonderful in savory baked goods like cornbread, biscuits, cheesy scones, pot pie crusts, etc. I haven't tried it in things other than baked goods and in buttercream frosting, but I imagine there may be other applications, particularly if you can't use real butter for whatever reason.
