Great little power station for everyday use
I’ve been using the EcoFlow RIVER 2 and I’m really impressed with how compact and convenient it is. It charges quickly, is easy to carry around, and has enough power for small electronics and everyday devices. The build quality feels solid, and the display makes it easy to keep track of the battery level and power usage. It’s also very convenient during power outages or when I need a portable power source. So far, it has worked exactly as expected. Definitely a great option if you want something portable, reli

I love mine. It's not perfect, but it's still wonderful.
So I bought this because the company had good reviews and I really liked the idea of having a portable power station to charge things on the go, but also have it serve as a potential POOP-HITS-THE-FAN emergency backup to power a fridge or something for a short time. It's clearly under-powered for that sort of thing, but it still COULD do it. I like that flexibility! Lo and behold, it has started to change my entire life! Suddenly I realized that I could have electric power in that old tool shed that has just served as a storage bin for old toys and mowers. That inspired me to clean up and order the shed, to put in shelving, and more! A few weeks later I also bought my first e-bike, and now I can store it in the shed and recharge the thing without navigating through the garage or removing the battery. This little unit is definitely too small for what I use it for-- it probably has enough juice to recharge 50% of my e-bike in one go, but that's OK! The unit itself is so compact that its easier to charge IT back at the house than move my tools or bike to where the electric is at. That's the beauty of this technology! After a few days of doing that, I realized that there was an even lazier solution I could use: solar! YEP, I could hook up some solar panels on that same shed and it'll recharge the unit automatically and, essentially, my shed is both off-grid and fully electric. I appreciate that it does all of the technical stuff I don't understand, so I just plug in the solar panels and it converts that into sweet, sweet tool juice. The app is also absolutely fantastic- It's fun to see how much it is charging or discharging at any given time. This has inspired me to buy the much bigger brother, a Delta 2, and a 160 watt solar panel to really complete the job. My plans for that are outside the scope of a review of the River 2, but it's worth mentioning that this little device inspired so much madness. So, in conclusion--watch out. This is a gateway device to much larger toys and an increasingly eco-sensitive lifestyle. EDIT: After enjoying this product for about six months now, I wanted to give a quick update. I still LOVE it, especially for the cost and size. It still powers my e-bike on completely solar energy. I use the Delta 2 to recharge this unit on overcast days using USB-C 100watt cables (ends up pulling in about 54watts), and that allows me to reap a little benefit from the Delta 2's 500watt solar input potential (the River 2 can only pull in 110watts max). Another thing to be aware of is that I did have some recent issues with the unit no longer displaying AC charging numbers and no longer pulling a charge through USB-C. This happened after a Firmware update. I contacted support, and the good news is that an updated Firmware update came out three days later that fixed these problems. It was over a weekend, so I didn't get a reply from Support until after it was fixed again, but it is something to be aware of. The Firmware updates sometimes bring new features, but if you have this as backup to a life-saving device, I think you'll want to time those updates to times when the impact would be lessened.

Very Helpful During Power Outages
I bought this EcoFlow to send to Cuba, and it turned out to be one of the best purchases I’ve made. It has worked amazingly well and has been extremely useful during power outages. It’s compact, easy to use, and powerful enough to keep important devices charged when needed. The quality feels great, and it gives a lot of peace of mind knowing my family has a reliable backup power source. I’m very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable portable power station.

Great device... IF you can get it on sale (see details). Conditionally Recommended
I got the ECOFLOW RIVER 2 (256Wh, 600W) because it was on a Lightning Deal for $157. Currently, it's available for $170, when a $70 coupon is applied - so it's nearly as cheap as when I bought it. Really, the RIVER 2 was an unplanned purchase, but the deal was too good to pass up. I've previously purchased a couple DELTA 2s, so I'm familiar with the brand. The RIVER 2's build quality is good, as are the controls, display, and operating ergonomics. The unit is very light, but the handle is still convenient. My use case for this is to act as a UPS for an NVR at my wife's salon/boutique. The NVR is just an SFF PC with Blue Iris installed. The power quality isn't the best, and there are the occasional power flickers that disrupt the business. The RIVER 2 acts as a UPS for the AT&T FIOS media converter, the NVR, and a PoE switch that's driving a number of WAPs and IP cameras. It's basically at the edge of its AC power budget - which is 300W (the 600W budget is the AC PLUS the DC jacks, FYI). Theoretically the runtime is about an hour, which is what I was getting with a 40lb lead-acid, line-interactive UPS previously. The only missing feature is that there's no USB/serial interface to interact with the PC - but that's not really a problem for me, as any outages tend to be seconds long. UPDATE: The River 2 has now had to deal with a number of outages in a short amount of time. No issues. I've reduced the SFF's power draw to the point where I have about 75 minutes of runtime. Just think of this as an inexpensive, line-interactive, pure sine wave UPS. Wow. I really can't overstate how impressed I am. Yes, something like an APS BE500G3 is cheaper, but I'm more interested in the River 2 as a more flexible/versatile solution. The PV input, carry handle, and generally more rugged construction make it worth the extra money. I assume my use case isn't typical. To try to make this review more helpful, I decided to try this unit with one of my solar panels. It was a little difficult to find anything that would fit within the narrow range of the solar charge controller, but I did dig up a 100W panel (~25 VoC). The unit was predicting about a 2 hour charge at 30% SoC, with 70-80W coming in. So, I think the main thing is price. At $240, I don't think this is a great deal. With the DELTA 2 routinely being on sale for double that, it's hard to think of $240 making any sense. At $157-$170, though, I think it's a pretty interesting device. Conditionally Recommended

Works well, charges on solar with right setup
I'm very happy with this model. I charge it with a solar panel and use it to charge phones and computers in the home. One piece of advice if you are charging one by solar is you need to use a solar panel arrangement that supplies at minimum 25 watts of power or the battery doesn't consistently recognize the charging source. I was using a couple 25V panels for a year that were not from Ecoflow and they were not very efficient, giving 18 - 21 watts on a good sunny day and charging was inconsistent, and took all day to charge the battery. Plus the DC charging mode in the app where you choose car charging or solar charging didn't seem to be working as solar would just vacillate up and down and not set on a level of watts input. I recently got a 60W panel from Ecoflow and it charges in 2-3 hours in varied conditions, from partly cloudy to full sun, much better. Now the solar charge setting in DC mode provides a consistent charge level. For output it gives 5 laptop charges or 20-25 phone charges. Don't expect to power high wattage appliances with this, like an AC or microwave or blender.

So far so good (updated 7/23/2024)
UPDATE: 7.23.2024 - Battery never has held a full charge like it is supposed to. When I wrote the below review we hadn't used the battery other than once. We noticed it was discharging to zero within a few days (2-4 days) after a full charge. I hadn't owned one of these batteries before, but my son had and his did NOT do this. We weren't sure if that was normal or not at the time. We maintained it through the winter months and then went to use it for a camping trip in June of this year. It was fully charged before we left and after TWO days it was discharged down to 20%. We tried to play a movie on a TV/DVD 9V system (small) unit and it discharged and shut off before the 1 1/2 hour movie ended. We have kept the battery OFF fully, so that wasn't the issue, something is just wrong with this battery. My son's battery holds a charge and doesn't do this and so does the battery we purchased in after we had trouble with this one on our last trip. I know in the electronic world that things happen and warranties are needed. That's life. Support We contacted support. It will be 1 year on 8/22/2024 from date of purchase. I reached out in early June. I shared with them what it was doing and provided all the data they required. They sent back a list of troubleshooting things for us to do, which we did and it didn't change anything. They asked for all the SAME information again plus a video showing what was wrong with it. So far they have not honored the warranty. We will revisit this review when we know what the outcome will be. We are a bit bummed they've not been more helpful and the process has been a bit tedious and preteditive. We invested in EcoFlow solar panels when we bought this first battery and then bought another battery just like it, which does NOT act like this one. These are TOOOOOO expensive to have them not work out of the box or not have a warranty honored. Just a heads up to the consumer. ORIGINAL Post: We purchased this to take along with us in our RV to run some of the 9 V items in our 5th wheel. The new RVs don’t have 9v plugs by default any longer and we use them quite a bit for TVs and fans when boon-docking. We are in the process of upgrading some batteries and inverters and plugs to allow for this in our RV but it’s a spendy adventure. So I bought this as a backup emergency battery and to use in the mean time. My son had done a LOT of research for his van life batteries and has the larger size of this model and has used it the last few years with ease and dependability. It truly does charge fully in one hour. I was shocked. We’ve use it to run a fan and TVs in the RV nicely. You can see the power draw. It allows for Solar when we get to that. Overall it’s been a great add and I love knowing it’s there for emergencies.

Perfect for small jobs, highly portable and FAST recharging
I bought this River 2 to use with an ECOFLOW 110 W solar panel I got for "free" when I bought an ECO Delta Pro. I had purchased 400 watt panels to go with the Delta Pro so the 110 watt panel was sort of extraneous. I really liked the Delta Pro but they are huge/heavy and not easy to move around for small things so when I saw the new River 2 on sale for $179, I grabbed it. I have had it about 4 months now. I love it. I didn't know how many ways/places I would use this but now I grab it instead of an extension cord for many things. I use it to run my fish lights when I go shrimping and it powers two large LED fish lights for about 2.5 hours. I also use it with an ICECO VL35 Pro portable refrigerator and it powers that for 8 hours using the DC output (100% to 31 %) and slightly shorter if I use AC (100% to 22 % in 7 hours). Also it charges really fast. When I had the ICECO plugged into it, I tried charging while powering the refrigerator and it brought the charge from 22% to 100% in 42 minutes while still powering the refrigerator. It works like a UPS and is able to run AC or DC things while you charge it. I have charged the River 2 with the 110 watt solar panel and that works well but speed is highly dependent on how good your sun hits the panel. The good thing is the panel and the ECOFLOW RIVER 2 are easily moved around to keep the optimal sun exposure. This is a really handy device with many uses. As with any of these battery/solar power banks, you really have to understand what it is that you want to run, how much power it draws and then how long your battery will last under those conditions. If you do your research, and this fits your needs, you will not be disappointed.

120v impacts capacity, but that's OK for me
Two-Year Update: The battery management system appears to be failing and I no longer trust the reported battery percentage. This unit has been connected exclusively to a small solar setup (about 60W under ideal conditions), and it no longer shows any solar input at all until I connect a load (charge my laptop or phone from it etc). The displayed charge level also gradually decreases over time with no load attached. Most recently, it got down to 14% and registered no solar input on a clear day, but when I connected it to AC power it jumped to 100% in less than five minutes and stopped charging. I suspect the battery cells are still healthy but the River 2 is no longer accurately reporting charge status. Which is annoying, but then again this is about the cheapest Ecoflow product, and I am still getting use out of it. Old review: USB power is plentiful, but for 120v it takes some power to run the inverter itself, which impacts capacity quite a bit. It'll run 5 watts on USB for about two days straight, or it will run a 5 watt 120v light bulb for less than one. I got this mainly for power outages and it will happily keep my phone charged, run a USB powered fan and a small USB light for several evenings if I keep it off during the day. Size and weight are nice. Compact enough to fit on a closet shelf and 7lbs is easy to manage, especially with its handle.

Great little unit with a lot of use cases
Our Condo has a scheduled power shut-off. I decided to purchase this unit so my wife can have a light on, charge her devices and brew a coffee in the morning. It was an impulse purchase and definitely a shoot-first-ask-questions-later situation. The unit arrived and I was pleasantly surprised at its small form factor, light enough and small enough to move it to where it is needed. This unit will not run a Keurig coffee brewer. It can handle 300w but a kuerig requires roughly 1200-1500w. (always ask questions before shooting!) the unit did run a 60w floor lamp, our 15w router and charged lap top and a few other devices with no issues. with all these items drawing power from the unit it gave me about 6 hours of run time off a full charge. the unit has the ability to efficiently switch from mains power to the power station with uninterrupted power. In the event of a storm where a power outage is in the offing, you can plug the unit into mains power, plug in your desired devices and if there is a power outage, you will have uninterrupted power. (no more searching for a flashlight in the dark!) What impressed me most was the quality of the light from the table lamp that I had running off the unit. The light was bright and steady throughout the 5-hour run time. While it was purchased solely for power outage situations, now that I have it, I realize there are a lot of use cases I hadn't considered.. We live in an older condo that was built without enough power sockets to supply all the gadgets required in modern life. It is very convenient to run a device when needed rather than swapping out devices trying to find an available socket. It does have built in fans to keep the unit cool both when charging and discharging. The fan noise was not particularly loud. I had the unit running about 2 feet from where I was sitting. While I could hear the fan while running, I had to focus on its fan noise and didn't notice it when a youtube video was running across the room. It is very quiet indeed. A great unit tht provides far more value than it costs. I am very happy with impulse purchase!

This is the best choice. Effective and Economic.
I recently purchased the ECOFLOW RIVER 2 power station, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my outdoor and emergency gear. The battery capacity is great for a compact device, easily powering my phone, laptop and so on. It’s incredibly lightweight and portable, which makes it easy to carry along, and the recharge time is impressive. I have been using this when camping or trips on my car helping me charge Phone, Camera, laptop and mini fans. At home it helps powering my Cooler, Laptop, Phone and Monitor when power failure. I hardly think if there is any alternative in Indian market with these features. Best innovation I would say with the digital display, different charging and recharging options, phone connectivity and support. I heard they have a portable AC, hope that too will get available in India soon. For anyone looking for a reliable, portable power solution, the RIVER 2 is a solid choice. Highly recommend it!
