The Pat Metheny Real Book: Artist Edition

I love this book. I was going to look at Letter From Home when I found that pages 113-128 are not in my copy. I'm returning it to get another which, hopefully will include all of the pages.I received a new copy today with all of the pages.

If you like Pat Metheny's music, this is an awesome resource. Some of the tunes don't have every section, but the point of this book is to be able to bring it a gig and play through his songs. His music ranges from straight forward to extremely (extremely, extremely) complex, so this book does a great job of finding the middle ground by giving playable (sight readable if you're good enough) versions of his songs. He is certainly one of the greatest jazz composers of all time, and this book does tribute to his extensive catalog and diverse writing style.

This Real (aka fake) book is FANTASTIC! Sadly it didn’t contain two songs one would have thought would have been part of the collection. But a great surprise was to find the charts are actually tested by the artists on gigs. Looking forward to using it!

Well written and accurate as far as I, an amateur, can tell. Been a fan of Metheny's for decades and now so fun to play along with the songs and have the music there to guide me in passages where I couldn't transcribe the complete harmonic structures. Well worth the price and wonderful to have for any musician fan.

Lots of repeats from his previous lead sheet book, but contains of new ones from Speaking of Now, Metheny Mehldau and Unity Band. Some work with Gary Burton and his trio's are here. Guitar is written one octive lower. I prefer format on Orchestrion lead sheet where more detail is given. Still wonderful colletion from him and Lyle.

Great book - although I already had a large number of these tunes from the previously released "Songbook". Also was hoping for more tunes from the CD "Speaking of Now", but still fantastic, nonetheless.

I bought this as a gift & it's a good one for any jazz musician.

You're into Metheny? Lyle Mays? Your original copy of the Metheny Songbook fell apart when the siral spine disintegrated? Same here. This book is perfect (I also have the concert version). Most of the classics are here (with some notable omissions), it could maybe have an update to cover the last few years of albums, but it's a treasure trove of great tunes, well notated in leadsheet format. Thanks for doing this Pat :)

ciao, per chi ama la musica!!! è un'ottima raccolta delle opere di Pat Metheny, (anche se non è il Book completo) nelle sue 268 pagine comprende grossa parte dei brani famosi partendo dai tempi di Bright Size Life arrivando fino al 2010 credo.Oltre per la chitarra va bene per pianoforte, armonie accurate, maggior parte composte da Metheny e Lyle Mays. Si possono utilizzare per studio o aplpicarli anche in trio o quartetto. (senza tabs)Prodotto Eccezionale!

Pat Metheny is a great composer! This book presents around 150 tunes (about a quarter of his published creations) in an edition that has been lovingly written down in best real book style. If you go ahead and play through the book you get the impression that the "Artist Edition" is not just marketing hype but simply the truth: masterful quality in every detail. A lucky buy... and fun for years to play through the book.

Hier hat Mr. Pat Metheny einen Teil seiner Kompositionen seiner gesamten Karriere in bestmöglicher Notation und bestmöglichem Notenbild in einem Real Book veröffentlicht.Ziel ist hier ein Buch zu haben, das man aufschlägt, die Band einzählt und losspielt.Vielleicht fehlen dem Einen oder Anderen das eine oder andere Stück, und in der Tat, ein paar seiner bekanntesten Songs sind nicht im Buch, aber wer weiss, vielleicht erscheint irgendwann Volume 2.Ich hab das Buch schon am Tag der Veröffentlichung am Notenständer gehabt. Love it!
