However, after 18 years of almost daily use, the main drum bearings finally gave up and I bought this new one. New one looks more stylish than the one that it's replaced. I may well, over the years, have had not very good machines or machines have improved so bearing that in mind this one seems much quieter than any I have had and also seems to be the most stable when it comes to balancing the loads so that it doesn't go walkabouts across the kitchen floor. Things I don't like are likely going to be true of many modern machines, that is the cotton wash is getting on for four hours (three hours 40 minutes according to the timer on the front but it feels like it is never going to end) and if you want the shorter wash (button to press to select) then you can only put in half the weight in clothes (5 kg instead of 10 kg). Also, other washes on the machine are only for between 2 kg (wool) and 5 kg. I use a mixed load setting that takes one hour 20 minutes for 5 kg so can get two loads done in an hour less than a 10 kg cotton. There’s a speed perfect function which you can use for mixed loads, it takes washing time down from 1 hour to 45 mins which is great when doing multiple loads in a day, but if you have it almost full then it increases its time automatically to about an hour depending on the weight of the load. Delivery guys were great too and double checked everything was working and took my old one away as I paid a bit extra for that option. Love the large capacity too as think it helps keep clothes cleaner. I can definitely notice the improvement in cleanliness compared to my 10 year old John Lewis machine.
