I absolutely love this case. I love that it pops up to be tall or can be folded down. It’s the perfect size to use when traveling for headphones and extra chargers, cords etc. Ordered a few more.

Keeps stationery organised.

Five Star has been making quality school and office supplies since I was a youngster (which is a few more years ago than I would like to admit) and now with a kiddo in school, they still make great supplies that last the entire year - and beyond! This pencil pouch (which can hold a lot more than pencils) is a great example. The materials are thick and durable and the stitching is top notch, likely to survive a long life of being tossed around and thrown / shoved into backpacks (as kids are likely to do). The zipper is also sturdy and smooth in action. I love the combination of a large central pocket that’s big enough to hold things like graphing calculators and cell phones with smaller pockets for pens/pencils/etc. Perhaps the best thing about THIS particular case though is the trick that it has up it’s sleeve - the upper part can push down and “fold over” the lower part to make a half sized standing bag - and if you have pencils in there, it basically becomes an on the spot pencil cup, so you can easily get to any of them quickly and easily and put them back just as fast. Then when you’re ready to go, you pull the sides back up, zip it up and you’re ready to go! This is great for things like colored pencils where you want to see / easily access any of the color options quickly.So if you’re in the market for a sturdy, large capacity pencil pouch, this is a great option from THE brand in school supplies. Compact and expandable, which is flexible for various uses. We're currently using it to store our Nintendo Switch accessories. The bottom portion is cushioned, with 3 small pockets on each side. There is extra material from the stitching that is sticking out both inside and outside the pouch, so could be a bit better finish. Easy and clean zipper motion.

It took a minute to figure out how this works because it is expandable. Basically, you can pull the top up to make it twice as tall or keep it folded for a more compact bag. Since I don't have a ton of use for anything beyond a few pens and highlighters anymore, I prefer something more compact. But, this would be great for larger items and lots of pens. Since it can stand up, you could theoretically put a collection of colored pens in here standing up. Then when using them, you fold it down unzipped and can see them all at one time. Almost like the top of a crayon box. If you want something compact for a small number of writing utensils, I'd get something smaller. But for those with lots of stuff to carry and/or if you want to be able to see everything you've got in it at one, this is perfect. Five Star quality is also great, so you can't go wrong here.

I have to admit that I was a little confused when I initially received this product regarding its expandability. Is it normally small but can become larger to hold more stuff? No, it's smarter than that! It isn't meant to be carried or stored in the "collapsed" position - rather, the top can be collapsed after you open it to expose all of its contents without having to root and dig around to find what you're looking for!Once I wrapped my head around that paradigm change, I love this product. I'm honestly not sure if Five Star originated the concept, but it is smart. Build-wise, I have no doubt that it will live up to the one-school-year guarantee.I will note that is is used around the house for drafting pens and pencils, and hence not subject to the rigors of a backpack. That's not a knock against its durability, but I suspect if it's bouncing around a lot, the individual inner pockets need to be at least half full to prevent items from falling out and going into gen pop.

I got this to use for the grooming items that I shave with and my lovely cuts my hair with. I'm aware this is not the primary use but it works great for this purpose too. This stuff was previously scattered in either separate cases or no case at all. I wanted to put them all in one place and being familiar with Five Star products I thought this would work well. It actually exceeds my expectations in most ways. I thought I would need to extend the bag to its full size, but actually all the items you see on the table fit in the smallest configuration of the case. I extended it for your enjoyment but know that in that photo the case is half empty because both shavers, their chargers and accessories, and the brush all fit in the more compact set up. The bottom fold down part is mesh which keeps things from getting too stuffy. Although it works great for my purposes I'm only giving four stars, because it does not strike me as sturdy enough for daily use. It's kind of puffy yet I just don't see the upper material coming out ahead if it snags on something. It's not near canvas level but I'm not sure it promises to be. My point is I think it's fine if you're accessing it weekly or bi-weekly, but maybe not for putting things in and taking things out several times a day in a crowded work environment. If you don't expect it to be indestructible it will probably work well for you. EDIT: Upon further review, the bottom is not actually mesh, it's nylon with cross-hatching. Carry on.
