A premium product for people who want a high performance network
If you’re looking to buy one of these, you probably already know the unrivalled potential of Unifi hardware to transform your home network. This is where you start - with a Cloud Gateway Ultra. I wont repeat the benefits of Unifi here (it would take too long), but you really wont be disappointed. This thing feels premium straight out of the box. It’s beautifully made and feels solid. It’s also small compared to most ISP routers, so if you’re looking to use it to replace your bulky ISP’s router, this will be an excellent solution. It doesn’t look out of place in a lounge (i.e. it doesn’t look like a horrible piece of IT kit) and you could easily hide it away somewhere if you wanted. Setup is a breeze, too. The display on the front is pretty cool but also tiny, so it’s pretty useless unless you have perfect vision. The Unifi app provides all the stats you need and more anyway. Another minor point, but it ships with some tiny sticky rubber “feet” which you have to peel off and stick on yourself. I’m not sure why Unifi expects its customers to effectively complete the assembly process for them, especially for such a premium product, but this is a minor point. This has 4 PoE ports in the back, but if you want WiFi you will need to buy additional hardware (or use your existing router in AP mode) but again, if you’re looking at Unifi, you probably already know this. Buy this. You wont be disappointed. (Photo shows the gateway sat next to my old outgoing Vodafone router so you can see how discrete it is).

Excellent value - easy to setup and advanced features
This is one of the best home / SME routers I have used - it is easy to setup, has enterprise level features, and offers excellent value. The first thing that struck me about the Cloud Gateway Ultra was its size - it is about 150mm square and 25mm deep. And on the front is a very small screen to display essential information without having to look at the console. It feels and looks like a high quality item, and won't look out of place in a living room (it doesn't like a bit of IT kit ... for one thing all the ports are on the back!) Setup was a breeze (although at this point I must admit to over 20 years experience in this field of work ... ). It really was as simple as plugging it into my Virgin Hub 5 (setup in modem mode) and and switching it on. It took about 5 minutes for it to complete its self setup and get online. Despite the easy setup, this router is not really aimed at a typical home user. If you don't need the advanced features of this router then there are probably better alternatives. However, if you want something that gives you complete control over your network setup - VLANs, port forwarding, DHCP and lots more - then this is worth a look. Management is via a local web interface, cloud console or mobile app. This makes it easy to manage both locally and remotely, and gives excellent visibility of network performance. Integrated with Ubiquiti's own range of wireless access points, this router has everything even the most demanding home user or small office could wish for.

Superb alternative to BT FTTP homehub as a modem
I bought this to act as a modem and wired router in place of a BT Homehub. This followed years of suffering flakey internet using a variety of mesh wifi systems, the latest of which (Deco 75Pro) has now been demoted to act purely as a wireless access point attached to this gateway. I can't praise it too highly - simple to install, great UI, staggering data and insights down to device level, and up to monitoring ISP performance - and I've likely only scraped the surface of its full capabilities. I struggle to believe what you get for the price; perhaps it's a gateway drug designed by Ubiquiti to get you hooked so that you buy loads of their other kit (in which case it's worked with me).

Unifi Cloud Gateway Ultra
If you are used to setting up routers supplied by your ISP then this can be a bit more tricky. I have quite a lot of smart products and devices connected to my network and the ISP Supplied Router couldn't cope, so I decided to buy this Unifi Cloud Gateway Ultra. I watched people setting them up on YouTube and it looked pretty simple. I already had an Openreach Fibre Modem so I connected everything up and the Fibre Modem showed that I had a connection to the Openreach Network. I just needed the ISP Username and Password entered in the PPOE section of the Unifi Cloud Gateway Ultra. I did that but I couldn't get it to connect to my ISP. I checked the connections and settings several times without sucess. I started searching the internet for possible solutions on my phone and after about 10 minutes I noticed the display showed it was connected? I have no idea why it took so long to establish a connection to my ISP but since it's been setup and connected it's been rock solid and it's amazing how much you can find out and see what is happening on your network and connection to the ISP. I would definitely recommend one of these but they are complex.

Excellent bit of kit for a home WiFi network
Used to replace this ISP (Gigaclear) hub, which was shockingly bad. Pretty easy to set up and pair with the Unify Access Points. Web based interface works well and the Unify Apps help too. Lots of possibilities to configure your WiFi network - miles more capable than I’ll ever utilise

Fantastic cloud gateway router !!!
This is a great device to have at the heart of your Unifi setup, it's superb value for money with endless amounts network tweaking options available. I was previously using a Unifi Express 6 as my network router and the UCG was a massive upgrade. The UX6 is now just a WIFI AP which it is absolutely fine for in use conjunction with the UCG as the router.

Does not come with UK plug, needs adapter
Doesn’t come with a UK plug, they include an adapter so not great if you are tight for room or just like things tidy. However, issue was quickly resolved by the seller and the product is great!

Outstanding Performance – The Perfect Upgrade for Any UniFi Network
The UniFi Cloud Gateway Ultra is an absolute beast for its size. Setup was quick and seamless, and the performance jump compared to older gateways is huge. Routing is incredibly fast, UniFi OS runs smoothly, and remote management is effortless. It handles multiple VLANs, CCTV networks, and high-demand traffic without breaking a sweat. For anyone invested in the UniFi ecosystem—home or business—this is a fantastic upgrade. Small, powerful, silent, and extremely reliable. If you’re upgrading from a legacy Cloud Key, this is a massive step up and absolutely worth it. Highly recommended.

Powerful Network Management
Really impressive. I’ve been able to manage my home network with so much peace of mind. However, if you’re not a techi, ChatGPT is amazing. Just share screenshots and your ideals and it will guide you.

Parfait mais un peu cher
Tres bon petit routeur, j'ai meme gagner un peu en debit sur le reseau local. Permet d'avoir la gestion des autres périphériques Ubiquiti dans une seule interface, c'est tres convivial à l'utilisation

Grym router utan WiFi WiFi
Superbra, lätt att konfigurera, känns snabb och får bra hastigheter Viktigt att notera att denna är utan WiFi så man behöver AP för WiFi

Perfect Solution For Small Businesses, And A Great Upgrade For Large Home Systems. Read more --
We've had Ubiquiti networking pieces for a while now. It started with a couple AP's managed via a Raspberry PI, added an EdgerouterX when a prior Security Gateway turned out to be not so secure. With a local available upgrade to gigabit internet service, it's again time to upgrade for the higher throughput, plus this cloud gateway ultra bundles Unify the management tasks with some security functions the EdgerouterX isn't quite as good at. Instant plusses include no-subscription access to a listing of known-bad sites to block, with a few levels of filtering available. It also supports VLANs natively, a nice feature that lets me segregate business, entertainment, and guest access pretty easily. The Unify console manages more than enough Ubiquiti devices to support our SOHO operations with two separate professional service businesses operating out of our home. The capabilities list includes multiple options for VPN access, which when paired with the VLAN capabilities completely isolates the two businesses and the rest of our home needs. Al in a compact and low-power package that lives in my server closet. I'm still learning all the capabilities, but plenty of info and support is available through Ubiquiti's own support resources and a fairly robust online user support base. So far I'm pleased with how it's working and how easy it is to configure. If you are working on a system that demands security and performance well beyond what my ISP describes as, [cough], "robust", but don't care to go all the way to a Meraki or similar with a subscription model, this may be the answer for you. At barely over $100, it's a fraction of the cost of those Cisco options even without the subscription costs added on. After some of the hard-coded backdoor access options revealed in our last 'security' gateway, I'm a little skittish about a few of the other mid-grade pro-sumer options available now. After a few years with the Edgerouter, I'm pretty comfortable staying in the Ubiquiti product family, especially with being able to consolidate so many functions into the one little package. Are you looking for a more secure and comprehensive upgrade from typical consume routers and wifi products? Got a range of user access needs? Got a small to medium business where you want to closely maintain user access and security for both staff and guests? This may be your answer. It has been for us so far.
