Disappointing to say the least *UPDATE* Avoid!!
**1 year update**So the batteries in both units have failed a little more than 1 year since first set up, so that's a positive at leastHave I regained any confidence in these? simple answer is a resounding noToo many false positivesNot enough actual detectionsNo way to know if they unpair from one another (if your reliant on the continual connection between the both of them, don't be, they can drop their signal and you'll never know. Also I've found out that some of the possible false positives are caused by a neighbour's automatic garage door key fob.*************Original review*************Just got a set today, so far I'm really disappointed• The pairing process is painful• The test function only tests in what is called "polite chirp"• The retaining plates for ceiling mounting are that tight of a fit, you will likely rip the mounting screws out of your ceiling the first time you need to change the batteriesSo eventually I got the units paired up, the testing function does signal to both indicating to me that they are correcly paired and in sync, however when real world testing either of the alarms with a can of smoke tester the other paired one only provides a chirp or what the manufacturer calls a "friendly short alarm/pairing tone" which is not loud enough in the event of a fire, say, while the home may all be sleeping. So unless this is a faulty pair (as both act the same) or worse still it's a design fault I may be returning these back before long as I cannot see a way to force both to make a full alarm when one is under full alarm condition. If your wondering what this "friendly short alarm/pairing tone" sounds like, it's quite similar to that of a low battery warning on other smoke alarms.*Update*In just over 6 weeks I've only had 2 false alarms and one actual detection due to burnt toast, however the detection was a few minutes after the toast had been thrown out of the window and most of the smoke had also been dispersed, amazing considering the detector was 8ft away from the toaster at the time.I would re-rank it as 0 stars as I cannot trust it to do what it needs to do in the event of an actual fire where every second counts. Now looking for a more professional set-up that I can hopefully trust to do what it needs to do.

Remote control doesn't stop false alarm
A lot of times when we are cooking, the fire alarm in our kitchen gives the alarm. We bought this item because we thought that the remote control can be used to switch off the alarm in case of a false on, but unfortunately that is not the case. The remote control is only for tests. That doesn't make too much sense to me, as you may test the alarms just once a year, maybe.

Better detectors out there, surely.
Brought 8 of these just over 3 months ago to link two outbuildings to our house wirelessly. We just had our first false alarm at 4:30am, not a wiff of smoke anywhere. Difficult to set up and the literature fails to inform you that the optional remote control of which I bought two of will not work if you use these detectors in wireless mode. One button to carry out all functions and set up is not making life simpler, quite the opposite.

Smoke doesn’t trigger them
Lit a match under sensor and saw smoke enter it but nothing, despite alarm test button showing all ok. Same on an old sensor and immediate alarm. Took newspaper into garden with no wind with a lot more smoke and still no reaction from either of the two sensors... very worrying!
