Learn to Draw - Manual Drawing - for the Absolute Beginner

GOOD PRIMER
Well done drawing primer. It is as listed, a basic intro to drawing for those with no knowledge of drawing or someone who likes to draw, but hasn't a clue how to develop a drawing. Also, I do NOT understand the "functional illiterate" comment from another reader (such a mean boy:-(). Wow, no civility anymore--not to mention so UNTRUE. And the comment that the pictures are too small--don't know which Kindle you have, but on mine you just tap and you can make a picture whatever size you want--love that feature. Also did NOT find any "inappropriate" pictures--of course that's subjective--but seems fine to me. Anyway good book for the beginning artist.

ABSOLUTE Beginners
I purchased this book in the hopes of developing skills I haven't used since grade school. I haven't started in the book yet, but after having skimmed through, it seems to take everything in baby steps from the assumption that you have no artistic talent at all. This is a good thing because it will allow for all skill levels to build a basis for better understanding in art as it pertains to drawing, as well as a strong foundation for more advanced techniques later on. I recommend this book to anyone looking to sharpen their skills, but especially to those just starting out.

Anyone Can Learn Reading This Book
Really impressed with this book. Not only are the descriptions easy to follow but there are step by step drawings so that you can see what the writer is explaining. Reading and visual exposure is the best way to learning a new skill. There were a number of different shapes, ideas, techniques and skills to allow a beginner to come up with something quite artistic in just a short while. The book would suit anyone old enough to read the instructions and upwards. I would even go so far as to say that someone who is not a complete beginner would learn from this book because they may learn techniques that they may not have tried at that point.Would highly recommend.

A good place to take your very first step
This a good starter. I can say that after I finished it my confidence has been raised for me to explore & learn more challenging techniques. If you are picking up your pencil again to jump back in this is not the book for you. It's a great absolute beginner book. As always practice practice practice

Learn to Draw for the Absolute Beginner
If you have always wanted to start drawing, this book is an excellent introduction, actually it is a tutorial that shows in great detail how to proceed: You learn what physical exercises will make your hand and arm "lighter", how to grip a pencil properly and how to use its tip and side, how you warm up for drawing. Next is sketching the drawing. You learn how to use sticks and shapes for the creation of fast cartoons, and how to detail your drawing by applying design, texture and shadows, smudging and layering. All instructions are well explained and illustrated, so it is easy to get started with your own drawings.

Not worth buying!
The author is functional illiterate. Most (if, indeed, not all) of his sentences are fractured, too often to the level of this reader not being completely sure of his meaning. The pictures are too small for details to show on my Kindle Fire. I often had to use a magnifying glass and that usually was insufficient. The concepts he explained were usually understandable to me, but too many would not be clear to a true beginner. I realized that I often was grateful to another book I had read that gave me a clearer understanding of what this author was trying to say. I would recommend not buying this book whatever your level (or lack of any level) you are in at this time.I would recommend the book "You Can Draw in 30 Days: The Fun, Easy Way to Learn to Draw in One Month or Less" by Mark Kistler. You can order it here on Amazon.com.

Complete Course for the Beginning Sketcher
Apart from the choppy grammar, I, a beginner intend to make this book a text , along with some other books that suggest simple subjects, assigning a chapter at time to process in my drawing ability.

Disappointing as an introduction to drawing
I was looking for a book that would help me with drawing techniques such as getting proportions right and structuring - laying down outlines to develop into more detail. At the end of the book he demonstrates how to grid a photo or picture in order to copy it which are the only two drawings in the book of actual real life objects. The illustrations are mostly of a cartoon like style. If you don't want to draw cartoon figures but actually want to draw real life as you are looking at it then this book is not for you. Much of the book focuses on shading techniques. My watercolour tutor has given me better drawing tips than anything in this book. It will probably end up in my local charity shop.

Great tutelage
This is the kind of book I need aT the moment. It clear and explicit and I really have learned a lot. The only problem is the length of the book. I would rather pay a little extra and receive more information.

Learn to draw quickly
This book is ideal for learners who wish to have a crack at sketching and drawing. I have got it via kindle and had a quick buzz through the text and examples - it is pretty good and explains things simply and effectively. A good buy at a good price.

Excellent product
This book is exactly as described. I gave it to my eight year old grandaughter, and she sat down and drew for two hours with surprisingly good results.I recommend this book for all ages.

Superb, highly recommended.
This shows you that drawing best begins with shapes such as circles etc. Details added later.
