Great little device
After reading other reviews and really carefully considering this purchase, we are happy we decided to give it a try. I have had fitbits for over 7 years now, and my husband and I currently each have the fitbit versa 2. I was a little worried the Ace might be too big for my 8yo's wrist, but its actually a great size. It is a little thicker than the versa, but I expect that given its meant to have the housing to be able to use a 4G network. Setting it up was quite easy, and being able to add other family members was great. The app is easy to sync to the phone, and both parents have the app (as well as grandparents for emergency uses). It seems pretty durable, as someone who has knocked the crap out of her Versa 2, I dont really have any concerns for the Ace. I did buy a protective case for it that is really thin and came in a 2 pack, just because things happen and its an 8yo, but I really dont have any concerns about its durability. It is fairly accurate in letting you know when the watch is on or off your kids wrist (came in handy when I was able to figure out why they weren't answering my messages) and gives you a close approximation of where they are via GPS. Did it know that my kid was at a neighbor's house? Yes. Was it so accurate that it knew the moment he crossed the street? No. Once they were further into the neighbors yard, it showed as much, but to expect 100% accuracy is probably just going to let you down. It does at least get you 95% accuracy, so you can make sure they haven't wandered off to somewhere they shouldn't be, and again, lets you know if the watch is on, which could be a useful feature if your kid is prone to trying to sneak. The keyboard on it is incredibly small, again not surprising given its a watch. My kid enjoys it because its like a little spy watch, but mainly uses quick responses or just chooses to call if he needs something more elaborate. So far, we haven't encountered any low signal issues, and we truly live out in the middle of no where (i.e. 20 minutes from the closest town, not even city) and its worked well. However, because it is on 4G and always looking for signal, we've found we can only go 1.5 days before needing to charge the watch. I really dont know how they could make that better, considering phones do the same thing if they dont have signal with a much larger battery. For as small as it is, I'm impressed it lasts that long, with my kiddo turning the screen on every 10 minutes to check step progress and time, lol. Overall, this has been a great purchase for our family and a great alternative to a phone!

Great 1st kids watch/phone
Kid loves it, has been banged up a Lil but still functional, gives our family security being able to reach our kid at any time. And can see where they are. Definitely a good 1st buy instead of a phone as you control who's in the list and it has no internet access for the child.

A fun and very reasonably priced smartwatch for kids and parents
My kids and I are already in the google ecosystem, so setup was super easy. A friend of mine had a few problems setting up her account because her son's Gmail account had an issue and she needed to make a new one. It became a hassle for her but as long as the accounts are usable it should be okay. The biggest problem was that she paid for the year membership on the wrong account and that was difficult to get straightened out with customer support. They say the $119/year plan is not refundable, even when it was mistakenly applied to the wrong account. My son LOVES this watch. Like others have said, it's a great way to keep him out of a phone for a few more years while giving us quality tracking and connectivity for calls and texts. This will let us give him more freedom over the summer and in the afternoons while giving us peace of mind about where he is. He also loves the games and step tracking. He's been using it a lot in the first week or so, giving a shorter than expected battery life of just a day. I'm hoping the battery life gets a bit better in the coming weeks, especially as he uses it a bit less. The watch is a good size for the kids, the band is very comfortable and fits well. I like that by getting the year pass, we get another band for free. He's still deciding on what band to get, but we have a couple of months to figure it out. I think it will be the Minecraft one. I like that it comes with a screen protective bumper, but I spent another 10 bucks to buy a screen protector that actually covers the screen. I found several reviews that mentioned scratched lenses and I'd like to avoid that. Overall, I'd say this watch is a good value among it's competitors, even at two years after release. I hope that the battery life gets better, but part of that is just how long the screen is on per day because he is enthralled with the watch. It's a win-win for parents and kids, lots of fun while giving us the tracking and exercise data we are interested in.

Subscription for child trafficking
You are already harvesting my data, you want me to pay 10 a month for it too? That is the most ridiculous thing in my I have ever heard of. Next you will want me to pay to open my gas cap to put fuel in my car, or pay to blink throughout the day. I returned this BS for a tracker that actually lets you use it without paying again. Just so you understand the greed side of this. I paid $100 for it. It's $9.99 to even turn the thing on. So each year you pay $120 to use it. Imagine buying two of these, or three? No family plans, no free trial, straight out of the box it's a bad paper weight unless you grease googles palm for your data, or your kids data to be more accurate. Does it seem more wrong that it's for kids data? It should, who are they selling this data to? The more I think about this product the more it enrages me that it's even a thing. I liked the trailer showing of the games and the fun that could be had, but this feels like "The Files" act two. Don't buy it so they change there ways. This should be not targeted towards children and it shouldn't be a subscription service.

One Year of Owning This Watch... Pretty Good
This is my first time touching a kids smart watch, so I can't compare it to anything else. Although, i will say this. I'm overall happy with the watch. Me and the kids don't use many of the features. I mainly use it to locate and message/call my kids. A few things: -A screen protector is a must...you know, because kids... -One watch was stuck on boot logo and i couldn't reset it. Luckily it was still in manufacture's warranty for 6more days and Google is replacing it in a week or two. -The provided strap.. my god the Velcro is garbage or that's just the life span (~10 months) Watch flew off son's arm and cracked the screen. Only use the click bands if possible or inspect the Velcro every so often. -Tracking feature is normally really good, other times it takes a while for some reason so I'll restart the app -Messaging is nice now, voice to text available after a software update and you can add other people to your trusted contacts list. -Battery life is garbage in my opinion. Lasts less 20hrs with light use. I would like to see ~26-30 hours worth of battery for when the kids forget to charge it. -Offers Google pay for kids which is awesome. The only downside is I can't add a regular bank card and the other options cost a fee (i.e. greenlight) -Call speaker is weak Overall id say it's a great first model watch. If they release a new version, I'd very likely upgrade for the well needed improvements.

Easy to use kids watch and safe!
By far the best watch for kids. We gave our 8 year old and our 6 year old this watch a month ago and they have taken to them flawlessly. Very easy learning curve. This watch makes it fun to move and unlock “quests” and “games” along the way. Easy to charge & band doesn’t scratch them or irritate them. Communication is easy, and guardians control the call list- safety is at the forefront of this kids watch. Highly recommend.

Mixed review.
Purchased this watch last week for my 8 year old boy. I do not want to allow him to have a phone and I want a watch that has both gps and telephone capabilities. This watch is better than some non brand chinese watches that we've already purchased, but still leaves a lot to be desired. The gps loads quickly but often shows the watch to be blocks away from where it really is, and gives a message that the accuracy is low. It also often gives a message that the watch is overheating even when it is inside air conditioned buildings. The battery it doesn't seem to be very long lasting, and there are games that my little boy likes to play that suck battery life even faster. I would like to disable those games but haven't figured out how. Finally, the last negative point is that I can't find an alarm function which I like to use so my little boy knows when he needs to come home or do homework, etc. On the positive side I like that it does not use a sim chip so my son can only call and receive calls from people that are set up in the app. The watch seems to use proprietary google technology to make calls. Every person programmed in the app must have a gmail address. He can also text and make video calls. So far, this functionality seems to be performing well.

Greatest kids watch for beginners
After many hours of research and being told this watch doesn't work or that watch doesn't work. This watch has become our lifesaver. It does exactly what we want which is phone calls, messaging, and encouraging for activity. It does not allow video or pictures. It does have a swiped text as well as voice to chat option. Easy to set up the Google phone plan. Bills me directly. I don't have to go worry about going through a large provider and it fits our daughter's wrist nicely. I also bought a cover to protect the screen just in case.
