This is Angel -5 of Carl Jimuki Co.,Ltd that was made in Japan. The Angel -5 there is a Royal and premium. This is a premium. **Q: Does it have 5 point sharpening.** A: No it does not. It only sharpens to one point. **Q: Is the photo of the pencil tip accurate, ie the tip is flattened at the end? Or does it make a sharply pointed tip?** A: This is the greatest pencil sharpener on the planet. It makes a long perfect point every time and it does not scare the pencil with "teeth" marks from the holder. I use it to sharpen my Blackwing pencils for music writing and there is nothing like it. Attaching it to something is a little tricky, but it works so easily that you really will not need to attach it to a base. **Q: Will this pencil sharpener sharpen fat pencils like young kids use when they are starting out? Or only standard-width pencils?** A: Hi! This is a great pencil sharpener but unfortunately it sharpens only standard-sized pencils. (We also have some fat kindergarten pencils at our home but they won’t fit in this sharpener!) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing Quality coming directly From JAPAN *by G***I on 1 May 2019* The best money can buy! MADE IN JAPAN! Lets say No to Made in China. ### ⭐⭐ disappointed. *by N***) on 12 December 2017* Worked well for a couple of months but then the rubber teeth stopped gripping the pencils, so they just spin with the blade when you turn the crank... disappointed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This Japanese product will last generations *by M***A on 3 June 2015* I grew up in Japan, and I used Carl's pencil sharpener which looked exactly like this when I was a child. I left home, and my parents kept the pencil sharpener, and they are still using it. It is in very good condition and works greatly even after it has been used for more than 30 years. Recently, I bought this pencil sharpener for our young boys, and we are very happy with it. There are similarly designed products on the market, but I especially choose this model because it has rubber clips inside to hold a pencil in place, and they do not leave marks on the pencil. Most of other products in this style have metal clips with sharp teeth, and they leave dents which look like chew marks. The blades are very sharp, and pencils come out very smooth and even. The handle feels amazingly light when I turn it. The body and many other parts are made of metal, and they feel very sturdy. The pencil sharpener does not need to be attached to a desk when it is used, so our children take it to wherever they want to work. Pencils seem to last longer when we use this sharpener compared with an electric sharpener. These days, everything is made cheaply to be disposable, but this product is an exception. I think this well-made, beautiful pencil sharpener will stay with our children for many years. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/63099439-angel-vessel-remove-karujimu-ki-manual-pencil-5-premium-red](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/63099439-angel-vessel-remove-karujimu-ki-manual-pencil-5-premium-red) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-25*
