This tool has two parts, a transmitter that puts a signal on the wire to be tested and a receiver that makes an audible tone when the signal is detected. The transmitter is connected to the wire or cable with a broken wire and then the receiver is moved along the wire and the tone changes when the tip of the receiver is above the short or break. The tool works very well and greatly simplifies finding broken wires. It's quick and easy to use and will save a LOT of time chasing down wiring issues. It's a great value and quickly pays for itself in saved time alone.

I have a few classic cars, and I enjoy working on them and driving them for a hobby. This tool was surprisingly easy to use when I needed to figure out why I was blowing fuses in the radio circuit in one of them. The bright LED is easy to see when it is lighted, instantly telling you there is an issue. There is also a tone that sounds when you are checking for continuity. It's a little faint, and I recommend testing the tool so you know what to listen for beforehand. If you have a compressor or stereo on, you will probably want to turn those off so you can hear properly. The build quality is great, and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I highly recommend this tester, especially for the price! I am glad to have it in my toolbox for when the next electrical issue comes up!

I picked up the VDIAGTOOL V210 mostly for basic automotive electrical diagnostics, and for the price it’s actually performed better than I expected. It’s lightweight, easy to set up, and the included 9V batteries are a nice touch so you can use it right out of the box. I’ve used it to trace a couple of open and short circuits on 12V car wiring, and the tone/LED indicators work pretty well once you get used to adjusting the sensitivity. The probe is flexible enough to reach tighter spots, and I was able to follow wiring harnesses without stripping insulation, which saved a lot of time. The tool isn’t perfect — the signal can be faint at times if the wire is shielded or buried deep in a harness, so you have to reposition the probe and tweak the sensitivity knob. It also seems to depend heavily on having fresh batteries. But once you figure out how it likes to be used, it becomes a pretty reliable helper for DIY troubleshooting. Overall, for around twenty bucks, it’s a solid little wire tracer that does what it claims. Great for hobbyists and good enough for most everyday automotive and small DC electrical work.

I've been happy with this tool so far. It was easy to set up, connected quickly, and the menus were easy enough to figure out without spending a bunch of time reading through the manual. It has done everything I've needed it to do. I bought it mainly to work on my 2008 Mini Cooper S. The car had a no-start issue, and after checking power and grounds, I used this tool to see why the DME wasn't communicating. It helped narrow it down to a shorted wire in the DME wiring harness, which ended up being the actual problem. That alone saved me a lot of time chasing parts that weren't bad. If you do your own repairs and diagnostics, this is a solid tool to have. It's easy to use, has plenty of features for the price, and has already paid for itself on one repair. I'd definitely buy it again.

This is well worth the money. I had a parasitic draw in one of my old trucks. Had already narrowed it down to the brake light circuit. Used this to trace the wires and find a bad spot in the trailer harness pigtail. It saved me a ton of time. I have other tracers that are built into other multi function units, but this is so simple and easy to operate. Already my go to for wire tracing. I have some other products from VDIAGTOOL and they work very well also, so I definitely trust the brand. For the cost of this unit one use and it pretty much pays for itself. Also 2-9 volt batteries were included with unit.

Bought this because I thought it was a really cool device. didnt have to use it right away just wanted to have it. A couple months down the road and I finally need it. Open it up hook it all up and the tone function doesn't work. it beeps when its next to the transmitter box but does nothing other than that. Complete trash wish I could return it but the window is closed. So hopefully this saves you from making the same mistake I did.

3 star to be fair. It won't help much tho as the sound signal is not that clear if there is a short circuit. If it randomly sounds alarm.... what good is it.

If you're a professional Auto technician or a do it yourselfer, this is a very inexpensive tool that you should have in your toolbox. I have used it several times and it's saves me lot's of time in finding a broken wire in a harness on vehicles. Takes the guess work out of wiring shorts and faulty wiring harnesses. The sound is adjustable "handy with ambient shop or vehicle noise" It's accurate, easy to use Led is bright and easy to see . Pays for itself the first time you use it. With late model vehicles basically being a big computer with many electronic controls in order to operate everything in the vehicle, on a broken wire of any length or a short can make it hard to diagnose a problem, A good scan tool might not discern a a break in a wire or harness, and show a code. So this enables you to find out why your getting a fault code, when the real problem isn't the sensor or control, but the communication from the ECM to the control due to a break in the wire. This company also has a large line of great testing equipment to work with this probe. You owe it to yourself to check them out. I made my purchase on Amazon, so if I didn't like the tool or had a problem with it, it's no problem because I could have returned it. Sorry that I didn't take any photos, but the instructions that come with the tool are straight forward and easy to understand. Plus there are videos on you tube and such on these tools. Got this item yesterday, today I traced a wire which would have taken me awhile to find. I found a problem within minutes. A must have in every garage.

Je divise une maison en deux appartements, donc je dois créer deux réseaux électriques indépendants. Merci à cet appareil génial qui me permet de repérer chaque fil et quelque soit la longueur (du garage au grenier par exemple). C'est un temps fabuleux de gagné et surtout on le fait seul, pas besoin d'être deux personnes.

Ist kein Profigerät, aber damit findet man trotzdem gut das, wonach man sucht. Es ist zum Teil eher schwach, aber für den Privaten Gebrauch in einem Haushalt ist es mehr als gut genug. Am besten benutzt man Kopfhörer dafür.
