I wanted a game to entertain guests that was beyond the typical cornhole. This was a great alternative, people really enjoy it. I love that it came with a storage case which makes it easy to put away in the shed as well as to take to other homes. The pieces have good weight, and are designed to be easily identified. This was a great and fun purchase.

Chess is already a fun game but when you add in the elements of having larger pieces to move around and play with, it adds a little bit of immersion and perspective to the game that makes it a little more fun. The kit is neatly bundled in not only a case for shipping but storage which is great because these pieces and their mat need a place to live unbothered. Everything packs down to a reasonably sized storage pack and can be placed in closets, corners, under beds and so on. The pieces aren't the best build quality, but they don't need to be. It's chess, not action figures. They'll last as long as you need them to - just don't abuse them. The playing mat is very large and fun to navigate around when you want to strategize your next move. All in all, it's a fun set that's a good idea for holiday gifting.

This is a nifty oversized chess set, however there are three things to be aware of:1. One of the biggest issues is that the pawns and other pieces have different bases and they're different SIZES, so if you try to force them to go together, you can bend the pieces. There should have been a note in the set that they're different sizes and don't try to pair them incorrectly.2. They're about 3x the size of normal chess pieces, but they look considerably bigger in the picture due to using children holding the pieces. This is slightly deceptive, but they do list the size of the pieces and that is accurate3. If you want to put the chess set away, you need to disassemble the pieces. It does come with a nice carrying bin for them, but they will not fit if they're assembled in their bases. It's a minor thing, and as long as you know about the two different sizes of bases, assembling them isn't a big deal.So it's a nice set, and looks good, but I wish they would have indicated the two different size bases or used ONE size for both so it didn't matter.

Corners rip easily on the hooks which is annoying but don’t really impact the game.

Everyone absolutely love this its befn to turns of friends bbqs over the last few weeks with us. Its very well made and a great way to play chess. Its packs up perfectly in the tub it came in a few people had said they wished the peices were bigger but I honestly love the size

We had a fun, competitive game of Lawn Chess today! We were skeptical of the little red plastic stakes that came with the game to have the ability to hold down the chess board in place. However, we found them sufficient & sturdy - they worked well in the yard (we have had a bit of rain recently). These stakes would not be sufficient for a sandy environment, like the beach - you would need metal stakes. Our day was calm & not windy. I do feel that a windy day might not work well with this game, as the game pieces are not weighted. Also, the grass was not cut as short as would have been ideal for the game mat. However, no pieces fell over during the game - all players stayed in place. Each character arrived in 2 pieces - the base (there are 2 base sizes) & the top. The Pawns have a smaller base than the other game pieces. They were easy to put together & when the game was over, we were curious as to if the pieces must be taken apart to fit back into the bin. If you wedge the pieces into the tote well, they will all fit back in the tote assembled - definitely a big plus! Looking forward to playing many more games of Lawn Chess in the future.

Who wouldn't want to spend a nice sunny day deeply considering the next ten moves in a great game of chess right there on your lawn next to the sunscreen and lawn chair?Cons:----------------* Pictures of the product give the impression that this set may rival those seen in amusement parks or malls, where the pieces are half the size of an adult and moving them takes legwork. The real size (which is noted in the text description) is only a few times larger than the average piece.* The stakes for use with the chess aren't terribly lengthy, so for any ground that isn't dense lawn grass, you may need to employ a deeper stake (I used tent stakes that could be driven deeper into the ground.Pros:-------------* The sizable pieces give a tangible, visceral sense of delight to the engagement. It won't improve your chess game innately, but (win or lose) it still just feels cool.* The mat for the board is above average, rain resistant, and not too crinkly such that it would make moving pieces on the board prohibitive.* The container works perfectly for unpacking and packing the kit up. Stores well in a condensed manner for easy storage.Verdict:* Ignoring the intentionally skewed pictures that mimic a much larger sized product, the actual Giant Chess Set, on its own merits, is a delightful and unique show stealer on your lawn. We deploy it in the campfire area, so it gets use while we camp, make hot dogs and smores, and exercise our minds through chess.

This chess set is such a fun addition to our backyard! The pieces are large and lightweight, making it perfect for kids and adults alike. We’ve had some fun outdoor game nights thanks to this set. Easy to store too with the included bins!
