Good quality planer blades
These blades work very well in the planer/thicknesser so long as you set them very carefully. It is best to use a proprietary blade setting tool to get them exactly level. Also be very careful not to plane wood with any metal in it as you will chip the blades and ruin them. They are remarkably good if treated well.
