About the Author I’m Shereen. I’m a traveller, a thinker and an explorer of all things, inside and out – physically, mentally and emotionally. I was born in 1985 in Staffordshire, England to an Egyptian father and an English mother. I’ve spent my 20s and early 30s working in a variety of roles; from managing construction projects in scorpion-infested warehouses to working on Superyachts for the rich and famous. All to live a life of travel and exploration, in a sustainable way. My first profession as a beauty therapist began at the tender age of 16. Since then I’ve had a passion for therapies, spas and authentic wellness. When studying for a Masters of Science in environmental construction I also worked as a consultant for a global organic cosmetics brand. I then began to question the impact of the chemicals used in the creation of off the shelf products. I then began to question the impact of the chemicals used in the creation of off the shelf products. The consequences of which often go amiss in the marketing. These include the risk of cancer, environmental pollution and the destruction of our planet. This changed the way that I used products and materials, steering me towards a chemical free way of living. On my travels, I often struggled to find organic and natural skin-care products that didn’t cost the Earth. After getting tired of carrying around my trusted brand of skin care remedies– and having to rebottle them to fit into the tiniest of airline liquid allowances – I finally decided to make my own on the go. It wasn’t long before I found myself running ‘make your own beauty product’ workshops at yacht shows, volunteer projects and exotic villas around the world. I try to live in a mindful way that is healthy, sustainable, and has integrity. I believe that, to maintain a happy life, it’s important to invest in your mind, body and soul. Therefore, I’m a huge advocate of personal development and think that, with mindfulness and self-care, we can grow from the difficult challenges life throws at us. This doesn’t mean that I’m some kind of puritan, because I’m only human and life is about balance. I do make mistakes and I don’t take life too seriously. I’m just learning and sharing as I go.
