Fruit trees and currant bushes
This is a great book. Simple explanations. Diagrams are easy to follow. I have shown this book to nursery owners. They were impressed.

Very helpful
This was recommended by a master gardener. It’s great to have a reference book to refer to before trimming my fruit trees.

Bought as a gift
My son bought a property with older, neglected fruit trees on it and he has been clearing the land around them and wants to try to bring them back to productivity. I thought this would be a very informative book for him as he has never tended fruit trees before.

How to prune fruit trees is a “orchard Bible” that I’ve used for over 20 years. It was out of print for many of those years but recently is on the market with some additional information. The best portion of the book Is how to develop a new fruit tree when you get it from the nursery, and learn how the initial pruning will set the tree framework for developing fruit for the rest of its life. The illustrations are excellent for showing how to prune trees over the years to develop a large fruit crop. Sanford the original author really helped my orchard.

How to prune fruit tree book
This book does not give you a detailed drawing of how to prune fruit trees , the drawings are very small and not clear. The book is also out of date when it comes to the best time to prune plum trees, it says prune in winter , but to avoid deseases they should be prune in July.

Interesting bit of horticultural history
Interesting historical repro but not a good pruning guide for the 21st Century. Some techniques would be considered rather old fashioned, now that a bit more is understood about the behaviour of plant growth hormones, etc. Note that this book is directed at the US market. Some of the advice, such as pruning stone fruits when dormant, is definitely not applicable to the UK.
