Charlie Bone and the Time Twister (Charlie Bone)

My 9 year old boy really got into this series. One day I popped my head round the bedroom door and saw him reading rather than playing on an electronic. For that result alone its worth the 4 stars. Having read the books in part (aloud to him at bedtime) I can confirm that they are poor boy's harry potter. But if it gets them reading.........

This is a very exciting read! It is a book that can be enjoyed by adults as well as children! I would recommend it to all readers of all ages! Can't wait to start the next book!

This book was brought for my grandson aged 8, and he loved it. He saved it to take on his holiday to read whilst away ,he thought it was a good read.

Excellent follow up to the first book.

My 8 year old daughter thought this book was fantastic, even better than the first Charlie Bone book which she thought was unbeatable.

Diesmal muss Charlie seinen Verwandten Henry Yewbeam retten. Er ist vor langer Zeit in der Zeit verschollen und hat nun den Weg zurück gefunden. Charlie und seine Freunde müssen all ihre Kräfte bündeln um Henry vor seinen Feinden zu beschützen und ihn sicher nach Hause zu bringen!!Band 1 fand ich schon super und Band 2 hat ihm in nichts nachgestanden. Alle sympathischen und unsympathischen Figuren aus Band 1 waren auch wieder dabei und natürlich kamen auch ein paar neue hinzu. Henry hat mir so leid getan und ich musste das ganze Buch über mit ihm mit fiebern und habe immer gehofft das er wieder mit seinem Bruder vereint wird!!Meine Lieblinge Lysander und Tancred waren auch wieder mit von der Partie, die Beiden muss man einfach lieben. Diesmal hatten sie einen großen Streit und ich war den Tränen nahe, sie sind beste Freunde und der Streit kam nur wegen Manfred zustande. Aber zum Glück haben sie sich natürlich wieder vertragen!!Manfred und seine Leute kann ich einfach nicht leiden, sie werden mir von Band zu Band unsympathischer. Er ist so gehässig und würde sogar über Leichen gehen. Er und seine Familie sind einfach nur neidisch auf die Leute die glücklich sind. Ich bin mal gespannt ob Manfred nicht doch irgendwann mal einsieht das er auf der falschen Seite steht!!Charlie ist das perfekte Gegenstück zu Manfred, er ist selbstlos, nett und würde alles für seine Familie und Freunde tun. Er möchte immer den wehrlosen helfen, was oft dazu führt das neue Probleme und Hindernisse auftauchen, aber zum Glück hat er seine Freunde und Onkel Paton auf die er sich verlassen kann.Fazit: Auch der 2 Band war super spannend, voller Magie und einfach nur bezaubernd. Das Cover ist wieder super schick und wenn man Glück beim Kauf von Band 1 bis 8 hat und die ähnlichen Cover bekommt hat man eine sehr schicke Reihe im Bücherregal stehen. Auch den Stammbaum vorne im Buch fand ich sehr schön und man weiß jetzt dadurch wer zu welcher Familie gehört und wer noch alles auftauchen könnte. Die Handlung war wieder sehr schön und hat sich super flüssig lesen lassen!!

Like my topic says the book arrived in a flawless condition. *****5/5To the story.I like this book alot. I mean, okay it's not as good as the first book but also not bad at all. It just drags on a bit. But i can beside that I think the story is quit interesting. Charlie evens has to save Manfreds mother from him and the other bloors. Charies Grandgrandfather arrived in a time twister and he tries all to get him back into his time and to save him from Ezikel who actually wanted to never see him again when he threw him into the twister 100 years ago.And there are really alot of interesting thing happening. But you have to read it, i won't tell you :)But i promise you will like it alot.*****4,9/5 ;-):)

wurde pünktlich geliefert, und als taegliche Bettlektuere ist es super spannend für kleine Schulkinder. Auch als Erwachsener lese ich das Buch gern vor.

I had a v3 for a couple of days and it ran out of battery but it wasnt a huge problem because yesterday we got a new battery plus i was so ecited when i got my first v3 that my dad was upset an he ordered me this one so that I would have one today and it came yesterday also these are so awsome. I wanted one 4 so long and now I have 3. I HAVE SO MUCH FUN WITH THESE AND CANT PUT THEM DOWN. IF U DONT HAVE ONE BUY ONE

I wanted to keep reading. Great characters with different powers.

After Harry Potter my daughter begin to read the Charlie Bone series and she adores it, a bit darker in places than JK Rowling's books but with good characterisation. Will get the third book, recommended.

It's the year 1916 and Henry and James Yewbeam have been sent to live at Bloor's Academy with their Uncle Gideon Bloor because their sister Daphne has Diphtheria. One day Henry is alone playing marbles when his cousin Zeke rolls a marble known as the "Time Twister" towards him. Henry can't resist the beautiful marble, but when he grabs it, he is propelled almost ninety years into the future. Fortunately, he meets his cousin Charlie Bone who hides him so the Bloor's can't find him. It's not easy, many of the students at Bloor Academy are "endowed" with special powers and some use their powers in malevolent ways. Plus, Charlie's Yewbeam aunts would like to get a hold of Henry. It will take all the efforts of Charlie, his friends, and his Uncle Paton to keep Henry safe."Charlie Bone and the Time Twister", the second book in Jenny Nimmo's the Children of the Red King series, is a charming if somewhat derivative book. In the front of book, there is a list of the endowed children at Bloor's Academy and their special powers, which is a useful reference. However, Nimmo can be a bit inconsistent with the powers. For example, Gabriel Silk can feel other people's emotions by touching their clothes, which literally causes him pain at times, yet at other times he casually handles people's clothes with no problem at all. Otherwise, the supernatural elements are nicely done; I especially love the "flames", three seemingly ageless cats, who have a knack of being there when needed. While Nimmo has a good story going on in this series, her writing could be tightened up as she spends too much time telling her readers what is going on instead of letting the action show them. Also, too many times she uses the word famous needlessly, why exactly would gerbils be famous? Henry disappears from the book for long stretches of time; it would have been nice to see more of his side of things. Nimmo does have a nice sense of humor in the book and I loved the word play: Tancred Torsson, who has the ability to create storms, lives in Thunder House on Hail Road."Charlie Bone and the Time Twister" is good fun for young and old alike, but children may enjoy it more as adults might like a deeper read.

I bought this book (and two others from this same seller) for my 10-year-old son based on a recommendation from his teacher, as she knows my son has really liked the Michigan Chillers and American Chillers books (oh yeah, and the Goosebumps books). I'll try to update this review once my son reads the book and comments about it (after Christmas), but as for the condition of this book (it was purchased "used" from this seller), it was virtually impossible to tell the difference between this "used" book and a new one. It is in like-new condition, so I'm very happy with the book as it exceeded my expectations on its condition. 5-stars.

If you are a Harry Potter fan, then this series is a must. I really enjoyed this series. Brings back Harry Potter style.

Love all the characters in the series. Very fun and light read for the summer. Can't wait to see what happens next!!

She makes you feel the good times and the bad; and makes you love the characters....and really hate others; in a fast paced and interesting story lineReaders young and old will be charmed by these books.I have purchased 5 so far at fantastic prices on Amazon and have completed 4 already. I can't wait to get the other 5 in the series of 10.I hope this review will peak ur curiosity and entice you to try the first one. After that i am sure you will be hooked on the rest.The Harry Potter-ish story line will have you waiting for the next book over and over

My daughters liked that there was mystery and good ending; they didn’t like the cliff hanger(I liked them though). I would recommend this to anyone who like to read bedtime stories to their kids!

This series is about children with magical abilities and the strange things that happen to them. This book uses the idea of time travel and brings new characters into the story. I am really enjoying this series and would recommend it to anyone who like to read about magic in a non-magical world.
