If you know Kenya AA...this isn't it.
If you know anything about roasting coffee, then you'll appreciate this. You get what you paid for. I usually by from Homeroast Coffee, often the Kenya AA top. But they're not cheap and so I was looking for a Kenya AA that was a bit less expensive and nearly as good. This bean may be from Kenya, but it's not AA. The beans are much smaller, a percentage of them are hollow (inferior quality), the flavor is somewhat flat and stale, and it's hard to roast. Shooting for a city roast, I don't usually take the beans to a second crack. But with these, even at the second crack, the chaffing remains on about 1/2 the beans, so the beans are roasted unevenly and one has to roast even further to get clean-roasted beans. I'll be returning to Homeroast coffee for my Kenya AA top.

The 5lb bag is an excellent value and I’m very satisfied
These roast very well in my hot air popcorn popper. Some broken ones for sure, but most of them i just grind up. I did notice that compared to a Colombian bean, this particular bean gives off a lot more chaff. The 5lb bag is an excellent value and I’m very satisfied.

Makes a fantastic cup of coffee, when roasting absolutely fills the house with an intoxicating aroma.
