Can this be used on gemstone to help fix into place ?

Yes it will hold brilliantly I used it to fix a ring and it lasted about 3 months but my hands were in water every day and it eventually didn't hold. So I would say keep it out of water should be fine then.

Will tbis work on leather

It should do, but it will dry 'stiff / inflexible '.

will this work on elastic thread that does not stay knotted?

Not really- depending on the elastic, it is normally off a type that a solid drying glue like Hypo will struggle with - especially as elastic stretches. A rubber or silicon based glue- such as E6000 would be much better.

Can it glue metal earrings ?

I wouldn't guarantee this but I have glued a pair of mine and they have been fine for months so far.
