This is easy to use--click the two halves into place and you're ready to go. The device feels somewhat flimsy, and the hold of the two pincers is iffy. It's OK for getting a roll of paper towels down from a high shelf. It's not OK for getting a can of tomatoes down from the same shelf. The grippers just aren't strong enough. I bought this to try to maneuver a tension curtain rod into place in a window over a staircase. It was OK for this--the curtains are very lightweight--but much depends on your individual dexterity and strength. The device also worked well to open and close curtains in a room with high ceilings, brush down a few cobwebs, grab a small book off of a high bookshelf, and adjust a hanging lamp with a paper shade. The device performed poorly when used to remove a heavier book from a high bookshelf. I wouldn't attempt to use it again on anything that weighs more than half a pound. It seems expensive for what it is. The value seems about half of what I paid for it. On the other hand, it does save me from climbing on top of the chest freezer to reach the high shelf, so the potential accident that it prevents may be worth a price that seems inflated. UPDATE: One month later, the flimsy thing has broken. It is a real piece of....disappointment.

Bought this after one I had for 6 years finally broke..couldn't find that brand, got another, last maybe a month, so I decided to try Ezpik and so far absolutely great..well worth the money..I just hope it last, I'm not expecting 6 years..I'm disabled and a grabber is so important to have when living from a wheelchair.. Update after a few times of folding it up a piece of the hinge broke off already.. Another new update..Started as a 5 star, dropped after it broke and now another one broke after a few months..once again right on the hinge where it folds.. absolutely ridiculous..it broke again as I was just unfolding it..terrible design..

I purchased the two-pack to assist with reaching up and reaching down after surgery that restricts both movements while recovering. When they work, they are great. One, however, broke after about 20 uses -- to pick up socks, and tissues, and other small items, NOT to move a 5 pound bag of flour. I do not know what happened, but a small metal cylinder landed on the floor; after that, the pincers would not close against each other. Instead, they remained separated by about 1.5 inches. Fine for bulkier items, but useless for most stuff. Having two grippers around the house during recovery is optimal. I'll be looking for a different brand that might be more reliable and sending these back to Amazon.

Thought this grabber would be better than others based on the great reviews, but after 2 weeks of receiving item the push handle would stick and not come back out and wouldn't grab (prongs wouldn't close completely like when first used) wearing out after only 2 weeks. Very disappointed because it worked great in beginning. Would not recommend.

I am constantly having to replace these things. Often times, the shaft is to weak and they collapse. Sometimes it's the suction cups...they get loose or lost. And almost every foldable one I've purchased, lasted about a week for the joint broke or failed. I decided to give this a try, and was happy when I found the shaft to be sturdy, and joints actually locked in place. What I didn't like was the prong head grabber. The rubber(?) portion of it, is pretty useless. No grip at all. I could manage picking up lighter off shapes things, but if you hope to grab a jar, cylinder, or round....forget it. It doesn't hold onto it. Impossible if there's any weight to the object. So here I go again...I will look for a different brand, with maybe the same locking joint, or maybe no joint at all, and definitely with suction cups.

I bought this because of the reviews and recommendations. What I received came loose in a big brown envelope and was scratched up and dirty (no box, no tags, no paperwork). There was a pin that fell out of the logo just above the handle. Apparently this pin affects the closing because with out it the clasp did not fully close leaving a gap of about 1 1/2" making the tool useless. I could put the pin back in and it closed fully but the pin kept falling out as there was nothing to hold it in place. I got a refund but don't think I will get the same one as it seemed very flimsy and not heavy duty at all. The handle and clasp are made of cheap flimsy plastic. This grabber seems like it would break easily and would not be durable at all.

**Update** This grabber lasted less than a month. The plastic where the grabber shaft folds broke while folding it normally, no pressure, no hits, etc., it simply snapped with light pressure while folding the grabber like it was designed to be folded. I would not recommend this grabber. I like the length of the grabber. The grip strength of the tongs is not strong at all. If you're looking for something to grab and lift much more than say an empty water bottle, you may need to consider a stronger grabber. The magnet is also weak, it worked well for picking up smaller nuts and washers but when I tried to pick up a 2 1/4" bolt, it would not hold to the bolt well enough to pick it up.

I don’t know about the other good reviews this item received, but mine impressed me with being flimsy and cheaply made from the get go. It was very lightweight and did not grasp tightly to items other than extremely lightweight things like paper or cardboard. Then, after less than a week it broke at the folding point. I glued and taped it together and went about using it again for a couple more weeks and it broke again. So I super glued it and taped it together with duck tape and it seems to be sturdy now! It is extremely cheap and flimsy compared to other brands. I have five reacher/grabbers and this is the only one that has fallen apart. And it fell apart so easily. Keep shopping - don’t buy this one.

Ich war damit sehr zufrieden. Ich hatte mir den Greifer vor fast vier Jahren gekauft und ihn täglich mehrmals benutzt. Nun haben die beiden Greifzangen nicht mehr richtig geschlossen, so dass manches nicht mehr gegriffen werden konnte. Nach so langem Gebrauch nicht unnormal. Heute kam die Nachbestellung an. Ich habe mir gleich einen Doppelpack bestellt - damit ich nicht immer in der Wohnung nach dem einen suchen muss. Vor drei Jahren hatte ich auch einen zum Verschenken gekauft. Auch der ist bei der Beschenkten noch immer in Betrieb. Solche Teile gibt's auch billiger. Ich denke, etwas kostenintensiver kaufen ist an dieser Stelle nicht verkehrt.
