Good sound, great control of sound quality, excellent value
So I changed out some Audien Atom units for these. The switch gear crapped out on one Audien unit in the first month, was replaced, and now two years later both went south. For similar money the JLab units offer some handy improvements. Multiple environment conditions, plus the ability to tailor the frequency spectrum with the Hearing app. means you can avoid that booming screeching over driven sound simple amplifiers give you in a crowded area it acrestuarant. These are not small, but the sound is quite good. Throw in the Bluetooth connectivity and you have so much more functionality compared to other units (including Audien) in the price range. The ventilated bud ear pieces are really nice. I achieved a good solid fit but avoided the occlusion of my ears that so often makes one feel one is under water with unvented earpieces.10 hours battery life with Bluetooth off is a useable service duration for my needs and I can quickly top the buds off by dropping them into the case for a quick charge if need be.There are no physical switches to get wet or corroded, unlike the old Audien units or others at this price. everything is controlled by haptic touch or through the app.I am well pleased.

Don't waste your money if you want to hear people
This was a waste of $100. Made it harder to hear people talking but amplified all other sounds so if anyone even shuffles a paper on their desk it made me jump out of my seat. Can't use them at all.

Not for me
3 stars for quality build. Bought for hearing aid feature. Only 4 volume settings. Very tinny sound, no way to adjust. 3 hearing modes, but could not tell the difference from one to other… not for me. Returned.

Very comfortable with good sound.
This is my 3rd hearing aid. The first one was MD Hearing behind the ear. O erar glasses and loud noise was made every time I moved my head. The second was an Receiver in ear. While this worked better, it was uncomfortable and screeching was a problem. Also, they hurt my ears so I did not wear them very much.I received these and they came with multiple rubber ear peices. I like the vented style as it sounded more natural, and it was much better at reducing chewing noise. They are very comfortable I almost forget I am wearing them. My hearing loss is moderate up to 2000 hz, and severe above 4000 hz. You can test for free at checkhearing.org, no registration needed. My hearing improved by 20 decibels. I like the Loud Environment option the best as unexpected noises are much less significant.

mostly just amplifies background noise
I have moderate middle-aged male hearing loss, was hoping these would fill in some of that. I tried them for a week in a variety of circumstances and didn't have much luck. One evening I was able to hear the TV a bit better with them but it didn't work the next time I tried (in retrospect, probably because the A/C was running). In every other case it only seemed to amplify the background noise. I tried every setting and volume level but no dice, I could always hear better when I took them out. There seems to be some kind of limiter that mutes the earbud briefly when it hears a loud sound, so they frequently cut out for a second or two in some environments--very annoying. The left earbud was prone to feedback. Bluetooth pairing took a lot of tries, though once it finally connected it did stay paired.

Amplifier is decent, Bluetooth works great, dad likes them.
My father is hard of hearing. He has actual hearing aids from his doctor, but he doesn't like how they look. We have tried out quite a few hearing amplifiers on here. These are not the best or the worst. We like the style of these. They look more like my ear buds. I like that the case has a built-in USB-C charging cable. It didn't come with a charging brick but we have a bunch of USB-C chargers. These are actually very similar to my expensive earbuds. The only difference is that these also have an amplifier mode, and the sound quality is not as good as my name brand buds. The amplifier function works better on these than a few of the others we tried. These don't make all kinds of high-pitched noises like some of the others. The amplifier does help him hear a little bit better, but they aren't comparable to his prescribed hearing aids. Although they help him hear better, they don't help me much. I guess if you aren't hard of hearing, the effect is different for you. All of these cheaper hearing amplifiers have noise to them. It's hard to explain, but if you put one of your fingers in each ear, you will hear the muffled hum I'm talking about. We chose the beige because it was the closest thing to his skin tone. Although these aren't as great as his high-end hearing aids he does use them for certain situations. He likes these for watching TV when there isn't much background noise. He also loves the bluetooth feature. He uses them for listening to music on his walks and making phone calls. I found them to work pretty well for music and phone calls, too, but they dont compare to my $300 buds that I own. He doesn't like these in places with a lot of background noise. They don't work great for conversations when at a party or cookout with a bunch of people. Compared to the other amplifiers in its price range, these are great. SUMMARY: Amplifier mode works well for environments with no background noise like watching TV in your home. It's not good for parties or events with background noise. The bluetooth feature works great for phone calls, music, or listening to videos. Just don't expect name brand buds' sound quality. So far this is my fathers favorite set that hes tried and uses them daily on his walks.

It's worth the effort!
I am impressed by the very good design, impressive packaging and instructions. Don't expect instant success, as there is a leaning curve. At first they fell out of my ears, so I reread the instructions and tried the cush fins. They fit fine now, but I still need a mirror to get them seated just right. I am still learning to press in the right spot to adjust volume level and kind of environment, but I can easily adjust them with the JLab app on my cell phone.I got them to hear soft-spoken people in group discussion, so I need to be able to adjust quickly from soft to loud-spoken people. That takes practice! JLab otcHear earbuds are my first hearing aids. They are amazing, and I am very happy as I learn to use them.
