My house has ALL wood, bamboo and tile floors. I've said over the years that I wanted a maid to come in and just do the floors. A pregnancy injury left me in pain most of the time and floors are really hard for me. I started with a robot vacuume that I love love love. Next I wanted an electric mop. After reading all the reviews, the corded plug in Shark Hydrovac is what I bought. I am reading poor reviews here under this product, but they continually mention the weak battery. My review is for the corded plug in vacuume not a cordless model. My floors have never been cleaner. I used the vacuume over the course of two days and about 10 hours for an initial clean. The bamboo floor is only six years old and sealed. That floor was so easy to clean, although I still cleaned it three times over since it hasn't been cleaned in over six months. The kitchen tile was super easy too, although it doesn't reach the grout, my daughter is young and took on the challenge to clean the grout with a nifty grout brush I found. The hard part to clean is the 30 year old wood floors with areas where the seal is worn off. We bought the house from someone who's dogs had scratched the floors and wore off the finish in high traffic areas. This was the hard part to clean the first time. I did the same as with the bamboo and cleaned it the times over. After it was done, I realized there were areas of built up dirt on the unsealed areas I had not been getting clean. I decided to go back and clean this area by hand with a scrub brush to get it where I wanted. After that the floors have been a snap to keep clean. I've put in about 20 hours with the vacuume so far and have had zero problems. Some reviews say you can't vacuume and mop together. I didn't even try that. I vacuume with the robot first, then mop. I don't want to risk scratching the floor with a gritty mop. It is super easy to clean. The clean tank chines right out with the push of a button. The dirty tank is the same way. I dump it in the sink, rinse it and either use it again or put it on a towel to drain and dry. There is a sponge on the filter that I rinse and squeeze and put on the towel to dry. The beater bar comes out easily. I rinse under the faucet in the kitchen sink and squeeze by grabbing the bar and turning it around with the other hand. Again, I either put it back on the mop to keep cleaning or leave it on its end to dry on the towel. The vacuume without the beater bar and without the dirty tank, has a very short tube between the two that cleans easily with a bottle brush that is not included, but I already own it. All these parts are removable and replaceable with one hand. I find it easy to use, easy to empty the dirty tank and easy to refill the clean tank. The mop has a self clean feature that works pretty well, but I found that it is easy enough to clean it the way I described above and decided that is rather care for it myself and allow the parts to all dry completely. I've had zero issues with mold or a moldy smell. My floors are cleaner than they have been in years and are easy to maintain after the initial clean I have them. Note, I have a corgi dog that sheds all year. The robot vacuume and the Shark mop have changed my life. I don't leave the house covered in fur anymore. Once a week I vacuume and mop, or one other day in between if we are all off work for holidays and tracking more dust and dirt. Everyone in the house is impressed with his easily the floor is kept in a very clean and neat state. Along with the robot vacuume, this mop is the best investment I've made in householt cleaning tools,ever.

UPDATE JUNE 4, 2026. tODAY IT JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE SUCTION AND ROLLER STILL WORKS, BUT THE CLEAN WATER RESERVOIR WILL NOT DISPERSE WATER. FOR A PRODUCT THAT ISN'T EVEN 3 YEARS OLD, THAT KIND OF SUCKS. IF YOU'VE READ MY OTHER REVIEW BELOW I ACTUALLY LOVED THIS LLITTLE MAACHINE. BUT IF IT'S GOING TO JUST DIE IN THREE YEARS, I'LL TELL PEOPLE TO SAVE THEIR MONEY BECAUSE IF A COMPANY LIKE SHARK CAN'T MAKE SOMETHING THAT LASTS FOR FOR 3 YEARS, WHY SHOULD WE GIVE THEM OUR MONEY IN THE FIRST PLACE. OBVIOUSLY IT'S TOO LATE TO RETURN IT, BUT I AM GOING TO REACH OUT TO SHARK DIRECTLY AND SEE IF THEY WILL HELP ME SOLVE THE ISSUE. CHANGING THE FIVE STAR TO A 1 STAR IF THINGS GET FIXED AND IT WORKS AGAIN, I'LL UPDATE THE REVIEW. This is the corded version. Not sure why people are reviewing the cordless version on this page. It shuts off when the tank needs to be emptied. Empty the tank and it magically works again. The cleaner it comes with sucks. I don't recommend it. I use a tablespoon of Mr. Clean with few drops of bleach. and it's been great. I can do my entire kitchen, living and dining area with one solution mixture. I have used it on my Berber carpet, and it works very well. I just omit the bleach if I use it on the carpet. It takes less than half the time of sweeping/vacuuming and mopping. I have engineered laminate flooring, and the water dries much quicker than it did when I used a mop. I highly recommend this but I also recommend you read the instructions that come with it. The power cord is pretty long. Long enough for me to NOT have to unplug it and find another outlet to plug it in. The cleaning feature is really easy to use. Empty the discard tank. Put it back. Put the machine on it's base. Turn it on. Let it do it's thing. It will shut itself off. Empty discard tank again and rinse it out really well. I let mine dry for about an hour before putting it back just so I don't get that musky smell that floor cleaners tend to get. This is also very lightweight and self propelling so you don't have to be Hercules to use it. Great quality for the price.

Update: Sadly, after only a few uses, the cleaner stopped working. The tank empty light turned on even though the tank was more than half full. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to start again. Amazon was great at helping me to return the item and I was given a refund in a very timely manner. I was so disappointed because I really loved this cleaner. I'm not sure if it was damaged in transit or if this is a common issue with the machine. After reading all the reviews for this item, I finally broke down and purchased the MessMaster Wet Dry Corded Vacuum Cleaner. It is truly amazing! I have scoliosis with a lot of back pain. My home is mostly ceramic tile, and vacuuming and cleaning it has always been a challenge. This has made my life so much easier. I used to have to do my floors in sections because it is so large. Now I can vacuum and clean all of them in a very timely fashion. The suction is great and my floors have never looked so clean. Plus my house smells terrific! Love the cleaning solution! Great product! Don't hesitate to purchase!

So a little about our house: we foster cats with special Needs as well as have our own special needs babies. We have one that can’t make it a day without leaving us stomach contents and one that leaves us puddles. I was tired of cleaning this by hand and I went through countless mops, steam mops, old school mops etc. I love my shark vacuum so I thought why not. We have stained concrete floors too. Pros: It is easy to maneuver all over the house. The suction power is awesome and it’s super light weight with plenty of cord to get around. It does exactly what I bought it for, it can handle large debris and easily mops up liquids. The tank size is great for us perfect size. Easy to use, and it’s actually not as loud as I had imagined it was going to be. Parts are easy to access to clean. Cons: The amount of clean up on the actual machine is mind numbing! I mean yeah great sucking power but what it does is sucks it to the entry of the vacuum head and not all the way in. So be prepared to clean that a lot. I mean a lot a lot. With cat litter it tends to make a clay and clump right there at the entry to the sucking point so beware. The self cleaning feature is a joke, maybe good between like room to room but it won’t do for end of day. You have to take it a part each time and clean it before you put it away. The tray it comes with gets so dirty from the self cleaning you’ll have to clean the tray out constantly. Not great with pet hair, it doesn’t suck it up but rather spins it around the brush and clumps there to stay. Not great for stuck on messes, you just kind of have to let it pre soak then attack it. The carpet mode vs regular mode doesn’t make a difference. THE BIGGEST CON OF ALL: No edge cleaning! I mean this thing leaves a good inch to each side it can’t get no matter what you do. It’s so annoying cause not matter what you do your still gonna need to get down there with a mop rag or something to clean next to the baseboard oven refrigerator whatever it is. The no clean area is almost to the point of unacceptable it’s so large of an area to me. So don’t throw away that mop just yet. Advise: it will not replace your vacuum or mop completely but it will help with everyday cleaning if you don’t mind cleaning the machine. Buy some extra brushrollers and filters it will make things easier. Happy with it : yes Wish I would have tried a BISSELL first : yes but going to keep it anyway.

Listen, in nearly 15 years of adulthood, if I have mopped 10 times I would be stunned. I hate it, and not just because I have the soul of a rabid racoon ferreting through a trash heap. The thing is, I have three cats. Once I even also had a very large, very furry dog. Mopping is like an even less satisfying version of Sisyphus's backbreaking work of rolling a boulder up a hill. I'd always sweep and then vacuum and THEN FINALLY mop, but mostly I'd just push wet fur all over the place because that stuff is like the glitter of the animal kingdom, but way less delightful. So that's why I decided to try this (that and I didn't have to pay for it out of my own cash stash). This thing has changed my very essence. First of all, it both sucks up detritus and slathers my filth-ridden floors with cleansing fluids. I still sweep first, but when I encounter a tuft of errant fur or my own discarded hair, it goes right into the dirty water tank and not just into a corner or against the wall. It's also wonderfully easy to clean - there is SO MUCH HAIR IN THIS THING WHEN I AM DONE - FISTFULS OF FELINE DNA! - and it cleans its own brush roll (I also remove MORE CAT HAIR from it manually, which is ALSO very easy). The ease of use combined with the freshness of my domicile has led me to use it weekly since I purchased it. My home has never felt so clean. I even look forward to using it because it is so very satisfying to witness its efficacy. Of all the cleaning tools I have acquired over the years to specifically help me with the fact that my three cats produce more hair than seems possible, this has been the most rewarding. Seven out of five stars.

I like cleaning my floors (all hard surface throughout the house) with a 3-in-1 type of vacuum/mop. I've had several brands over the years and I really thought the Shark would be the best. First off, it isn't a vacuum. It's a 3-in-1 floor cleaner so it "vacuums" and mops at the same time. Yes, there is some suction but you can't use it as a vacuum alone. It requires a concentrated solution that's diluted with water that doesn't necessarily clean, but rather it leaves a pleasant scent in the room. It does not steam clean. The brush roller continues to spin and the "vacuum" draws the dirt and water into the tank. I was able to clean almost 2 rooms before having to refill the water/concentrate tank. It is self-propelled which is a plus. However, if you want to stop cleaning for a second you have to get the vacuum in an upright position which isn't that easy to do. Now, here's the dirt. You must empty the dirty water AND clean the dirty water tank and its parts after each use. It's messy and ugly and if you have a weak stomach, forget it. You also have to clean the roller brush as well as the area where the brush attaches or you'll have a clogged mess the next time you go to use it. The solution isn't cheap and I don't get the "19 uses" the bottle. There is a docking station where you can "self-clean" the roller, but when I did that and moved on, the next floor didn't get as clean. It doesn't get as close to the edge of the room as I'd like so I usually have to use a hand vac to get up any dirt. I did buy spare rollers and filters so I cut drop in a clean one after taking out the dirty one. I bought 2 of these machines (one for downstairs, one for upstairs) and I wish I had tested one of them first before buying a 2nd one. And now I need to buy a standalone vacuum so I can vacuum first before cleaning the floor. This was a disappointment and maybe I can sell them to recoup some of the money spent.

I thought I loved this product, but now? Not so much. The Shark HydroVac MessMaster is wonderful... if your use case permits it. I bought my Shark HydroVac in December of 2025 after developing a significant injury that limited my mobility. I needed something that could help me keep my floors clean without requiring me to scrub everything by hand, and in many ways, it does exactly what a wet/dry vacuum should do. So why only 3 stars? Let's start with replacement parts. Shark has made it incredibly difficult to maintain this vacuum affordably. The brush roller, filter, filter housing, dirty water tank, clean water tank, and roller cover are all wear items that eventually need replacing. Buying genuine Shark parts is expensive enough that it starts making a ~$140 vacuum feel disposable. Naturally, I tried third-party replacements. Bad idea. The replacement brush was too large. The filter was too large. The filter housing was too small. It was almost impressive how every single aftermarket part managed to be wrong in a different way. I can't justify paying Shark's prices every time something wears out, but they also seem to have made compatibility with 3rd-party parts nearly impossible. I've been buying Shark products since 1996, and this is easily the most disappointing ownership experience I've had with the brand. I understand companies need to make money, but making affordable maintenance this frustrating feels like a disservice to long-time customers. Next: hard water. If you live somewhere with hard water, buy a descaling solution or use softened/distilled water from day one. Mineral buildup affects performance surprisingly quickly, and if you don't stay ahead of it, suction starts dropping and clogs become much more common. Now let's talk about pets. If you have pets, prepare for frustration. I cannot count the number of times I've vacuumed pet hair only to watch the machine suck it up, carry it into the brush roller cover... and then politely place it right back onto my floor. Why? I genuinely don't know. The brush roller cover design simply doesn't seem capable of containing pet hair properly, so instead of cleaning it, you're sometimes just relocating it. The motor itself is excellent. The genuine Shark brush roller also works very well. But here's where my biggest complaint comes in. I bought this vacuum specifically because I have mobility limitations. The entire point of buying a wet/dry vacuum was to reduce the amount of physical work required to clean my floors. Instead, I regularly have to go over the exact same spot 10-15 times before it's actually clean. For someone without mobility issues, that's annoying. For someone with them, it completely defeats the purpose. The machine feels heavier than it needs to, requires more effort than expected, and simply isn't designed with people who have physical limitations in mind. Shark does a perfectly good job advertising all the positive features themselves, so I'd rather focus on where this product needs improvement. It has a lot of potential, but the overall design feels like it prioritized marketing over long-term usability. As for cleaning solution…Like basically every wet/dry vacuum ever made, don't use dish soap or anything that creates suds unless you enjoy creating new problems for yourself. Shark recommends only using their own solution (because of course they do), but I've had perfectly good results using distilled water. I simply rinse the dirty water tank thoroughly after every use. Speaking of maintenance...The brush roller smells absolutely horrific after the first use if you don't dry it completely. My solution? Rinse it thoroughly after every use, then literally leave it outside in the driveway for two days to dry. Yes, really, otherwise it stays damp forever, and eventually starts smelling like something that probably deserves its own EPA designation. The compartment directly behind the brush roller is another questionable design decision. Everything you vacuum eventually turns into this muddy sludge that cakes itself inside the housing. Your options are basically: A) Get on your hands and knees with paper towels and scrub it out manually. OR, B) Hold the entire vacuum at a weird angle over your sink while trying to flush the mud out with running water. Neither option is particularly elegant. I also learned very quickly that this machine absolutely cannot tolerate heat. I wasn't pouring boiling water into it. I wasn't doing anything crazy. I used hot tap water. That alone warped the brush roller enough for it to jam itself inside the housing, destroying the roller cover in the process. That was a fun replacement to order. So... don't use heat. At all. Another issue I've consistently experienced is leaking. There are two common leak points underneath the brush roller, one on each side. Cleaning something sudsy? It'll leak suds back onto your floor. Cleaning normally? It'll occasionally leak water back onto your floor instead. Maybe I just received a bad unit. But after nearly a year of ownership, the failures have been so oddly specific (AND SO REPEATABLE) that they feel more like design flaws than random defects. I've only owned three Shark products in my life. The vacuum I bought from them in 1996 is still running today, which is exactly why my expectations for this one were so high. Shark likes to market these vacuums as affordable and convenient. Affordable? At first..Convenient? Until replacement parts, constant maintenance, and questionable design choices enter the picture. I genuinely wanted to leave a glowing review because there is a good product buried in here somewhere. The motor is solid. The official brush roller performs well. The concept itself is great. But like the messes it's supposed to clean... This thing is kind of a mess, girl. TL;DR: for your own sake, buy a Dyson.

This cleans dirty floors nicely I like the steam boost mode for tough stains. The vacuum part of it works on small things, nothing large. I used this in a high traffic area that is used heavily and it worked well. The scent of the detergant is pleasant and not to overwhelming. I only filled it one time during the entire process. The emptying is a little gross. Dirty water can be conveniently dumped separately but the dirt is wet and gross but in a different section that’s removed separately. Everything is easy to get to and put back together. You use very little detergent which I also appreciate. The self cleaning part takes minutes when docked and it does clean the brush very well. It seems self propelled and is very easy to move around and not heavy at all. Zero attachments but none are necessary.
