TuffyJeep YJ Wrangler Security Tailgate Enclosure

overall i am happy with this. It doesnt fit as tight around the top/rear/fenders as I'd like. I had to do some custom work to it to get it to fit as tight as I wanted. It doesnt conform to the ridges on the bottom of the tub, which was really disappointing. I used this as a "firewall" for my fuel cell which is mounted behind the rear seat.

I had high expectations as I have used Tuffy security products on my Land Rover Defender 90 that I loved. I'm now in the process of building out a Jeep and need some security boxes for my gear. Having installed this yesterday I was saddened to find that this did not fit into my 95 YJ. Basically the enclosure was about a quarter of an inch shorter than it needed to be. The slot, highlighted in blue was off from the seatbelt bolt hole, highlighted in green. The holes needed to align to allow for the bolt to secure the product. No amount of pushing and coaxing could make this fit. The product just didn't fit. In addition there were some major gaps in other areas of the enclosure, anywhere from 1/4 to 1/8 inch that would have needed to be sealed/secured somehow.

Tony at Lead Feet performance was 100% communicative during the entire buying process, which is great given that he had to custom-order this part.installed on a '95 YJ with no problems with the enclosure itself, I was even able to trim my Quadratec rear mat to make it fit under the tailgate enclosure (so the floor is protected from scratches).one word of advice is to use PB blaster on ALL of the screws that you need to remove from your jeep--I managed to strip one of the Torx screws holding down the roll bars in the back when I did this install--the gate is still solid even with 2 anchor points. I am getting the 3rd removed when I have time to have the security enclosure fully locked down.Some notes:1). you can still fold the rear seat forward with this installed2). this enclosure gives you a surprising amount of lockable storage spacefor the money I think it's a great add on to a jeep!

I’m sure this is s great, secure product. Problem is I will never know. The tolerances are so tight that I cannot for it I to my 95 YJ because I have carpet. I fiddled with it enough and decided to go with Best top.

Thinner metal than I would like, doesn't fit on the passenger side where the internal tailgate bracket is, I will have yo trim the steel, definitely not water proof. I'm really concerned about how thin it is, someone could get into it if they really wanted to.

Not a direct fit up on a 1992 Wrangler YJ. Will need to modify to be able to use.
