Rabbit House combines a nucleus of blues tunes - fingerpicking guitar, slide guitar, and bass - with a handful of original songs. "Pallet On Your Floor" is one of the oldest and most-played folk-blues standards. "Our Little Town" is a new song in lyrical mode. "Hound Dog Blues" is an early precursor to a song made popular in the 1950s, which I've adapted from the version sung by Big Mama Thornton. The song was written by Leiber and Stoller around 1950."Nosy Nits" is a new song about sheep farmers who are also growing a cash crop. "Bought You a Horse" is a new blues song. "It Hurts Me Too" is a slow blues tune first recorded by the Mississippi Sheiks in 1930. "Good Man Bad Man Blues" is an original blues tune, as is "Rabbit House." The last two songs are early blues works. "Trouble in Mind" was written by jazz pianist Richard M. Jones and first recorded in 1924. "Stealin' " is an American folk-blues standard from the 1920s. Gus Cannon claims to have written the first verse. His band the Jug Stompers recorded the work in Memphis in 1928.Pallet On Your Floor (trad. arr.
