Ok, I waited a few months to write the review. I have a Hessaire unit at work, and wanted something for the porch at home. This went on sale and I snagged it. As long as it’s dry (humidity below 30%, which it usually is here in southwest Texas), this thing is a god send! Cools a solid 25-30 degrees in dry hot days. Loses effectiveness over 100, but that’s any cooler. It moves a good amount of air on low, and moves a TON of air on high. The oscillation feature is nice, and being able to move the lovers up or down is a nice feature. Uses next to no power, as evaporative coolers tend to do, so very every efficient. On low it’s quiet enough to use and still talk around, on high you better be 10 feet away. Value for the money is great, beats a port cool that’s 4 times the price!

Colorado resident. It works really well in our dry climate. With the cooler feature and the hose hook up, this portable evaporator works as well as a non portable window evaporator.When our old swamp cooler kicked the bucket recently, we noticed the prices tripled since the last time we bought one and decided to try this lesser expensive option.I'm really happy with this. The fact that this is portable and can be rolled anywhere, makes this much better than the traditional swamp cooler.I keep it running on either low or medium all night and morning and usually switched to the ice packs in the afternoon when it really gets hot.If it's 100 degrees outside, I can turn the cooler option on and it will cool down the house to around 70 degrees. If you stand directly in front of it, it's about 50 degrees. You can really feel the cold air.Please note, with the cooler feature active, it does use up the water. If you don't have a water hose connected, then you need to refill to the max water line every 3 to 4 hours.The water pump only pumps out water if you have the cooler feature on.If you live in a dry climate like I do, the temperature drops significantly at night so I just turn the cooler feature off and keep it running on low or medium and just crack a few windows open. Our humidity in Denver is less than 10% so it works great at night without the cooling option. This way I don't need to set an alarm after 4 hours to add water or change the ice packs.

I’m extremely disappointed with this purchase. The listing specifically uses the words “Portable Outdoor Air Conditioner,” which is a major reason I bought it. In actual use, this does NOT perform like an air conditioner. It is an evaporative/swamp cooler with a large fan.If you live somewhere hot and humid, do your research before buying this expecting A/C-type cooling. In my experience, it moves a lot of air, but it did not noticeably cool the area the way I expected.I understand now that an evaporative cooler is different from a refrigerated air conditioner, but that is exactly my problem with the listing. Don’t call something an “air conditioner” if it does not actually function like the product consumers normally understand that term to mean.I would not have purchased this had the listing clearly presented it simply as a large evaporative cooler/fan. Very disappointing purchase, and I’m leaving this review so other buyers understand what they are actually getting.

This is my second purchase of this model. The first one lasted nearly 3 years of keeping me cool in the Texas heat. The reservoir is large enough to get the job done. This sits outside on my covered patio so the hose hookup is huge for me. I added an on/off valve between the hose and the plastic mounted fitting. This fan has enough power to keep me cool at ~10'. There are drawbacks however. The first one had a low power fan failure. Being adept at electronics, I changed out the 4 position switch on the front, no dice but I could live with only medium and high settings. Then finally, the pump failed. Most of the wiring is routed through the fan casing, so I just opted to replace the entire thing. The paper filters were getting brittle but could have lasted a bit longer. Be aware that the rear panel screws and brackets will rust and the fan casing will eventually show signs of corrosion. I considered removing the fan at one point to recondition it, but that's a huge undertaking with the wiring and plumbing. So during it's lifespan, I oiled it each time I removed the filter pads for cleaning. One improvement is that the drain no longer sits underneath but now on the backside making it much easier to drain and clean. If you purchase, consider it a consumable. If the floor is not level, I had to put a folded piece of cardboard under one wheel so that the water would distribute evenly on all 3 sides. It's noisy kinda at the highest fan level. This is a good value if you go into it knowing that there are some maintenance aspects to consider, and I don't mind that and expect it. I recommend.

This swamp cooler works well and keeps my garage cool when I want to work there. I like the ability to switch the oscillating grill off and on. If you want to focus on working at your workbench or sit in a chair, turn the oscillation off. The push button and toggle switch controls make it easy to adjust fan speed, cooling and oscillation. The unit is on four castors which makes moving the unit easy. The top of the unit has a lid which provides access to the upper water reservoir and you can add frozen, plastic, blue freezer containers to cool the air more.The cons about this cooler are:1) the connection pipe is poorly mounted on the cooler. It took a long time to figure out how to attach a hose and shutoff without leakage where the connection enters the cooler. It’s cheaply made and I was afraid it would break.2) the water level indicator is a plastic float which continuously sticks in the tube it’s in. You have to open the access flap to feel what the water level is.3) cleaning isn’t very easy.I kept this unit because it works well and is problematic returning. I’ve had it for a year and it’s still working and not leaking.

We got this for the heat wave here in Los Angeles and have been very happy with it. Our climate is generally pretty dry, so an evaporative cooler works well for what we needed. It definitely doesn't replace AC completely, but it makes the space cooler and much more comfortable. (You should find the best angle for the airflow of your room)The airflow is strong, the large water tank is convenient, and adding the ice packs helps when we want it a little cooler. I also like the oscillation because the air isn't just blowing in one direction. We've been using it during this stretch of 100-degree weather, and it has made a big difference for us.The wheels are very helpful to move it in different areas of our apartment and put it away when it finally gets colder, as it is very big. It's working great for us so far.

This Swamp Cooler is doing a great job on my back patio right now. It's 88 degrees outside here in Phoenix AZ and theswamp (or evaporative cooler) with the water running is keeping the patio right around 72/73 degrees. A long time ago, I lived in an old house here in Phoenix that only had a swamp cooler, and that unit had four sides, with each side having a wet pad to keep the house cool. So, when selecting an outdoor cooler I wanted be sure all sides pulling in hot air would have a wet pad that would cool all the air coming into the unit. Some of other cooler I looked at only had one pad in the back, with two sides vents that would pull in hot air, which in the end would make the cold air from the wet pad in the back warmer before it reached the motor that pushed the air out me - I'm so glad I found this unit!This unit looks to be well made, is sturdy, and rolls very easy even when filled with water. The motor is so strong that I don't even need to put it on high to cool off my 9x15 patio, the lowest setting works fine for me for now. Plus, the ice blocks have stayed frozen/cold all afternoon in the water, maybe 5 hours now and the water is still very cold.I used my new ECOFLOW solar power station to get an idea of the watts used by this swamp cooler .... Using the unit with the fan on low it pulled around 92w - on high it pulled around 164w. Using the swamp cooler on low with water pump running it pulled around 119w - on high it pulled around 187w.Now, the down side ... I'm having a problem with the hose connection leaking. I used some Plummer's tape to avoid this problem, but the connection site leaked anyway. I tried tightening the connection as much as I dared, as I'm afraid if I over-tighten it will destroy plastic plug connection in the unit's wall. This isn't a deal breaker for me as it is a very small leak and I just put a cup under to catch the dripping water, but it would be nice if I could get it to stop dripping. Maybe the seller will see this comment and help me figure out why the connection has a problem.Update 05/09/25 -- Wanted to add that their customer service is excellent! I needed some help with the swamp cooler and had some questions, and I found this company to be very considerate, understanding, and helpful to my needs.Also, right now it's exactly 100 degrees here in Phoenix AZ without the cooler, after turning on my new cooler the thermostat is now reading 83.5 degrees - AWESOME - and, it is still on the low setting.I'm over the moon with this company, customer service, and of course the swamp cooler.Thank you so much!

Air Cooler (model # JH-40BI) works well blowing air. However, the water pump went out and no longer circulates the water less than a year later. No more cool air, unfortunately. They don't sell the right pump alone and vendor won't answer messages.
